ToddinWestwoodMemberMight be familiar with many W.S. people. Down by the stadiums. Great place, no televisions and super nice owners.
From the PI:
UPDATE: Sodo fire ruled an accident
An overheated ceiling fan ignited an accidental fire early Wednesday that damaged a Sodo bar at 1721 First Ave. S, the Seattle Fire Department reported.
Firefighters were called about 7:40 a.m. to reports of smoke in the building, which is shared by the Hooverville Bar and an automotive shop. The fire was contained to a mezzanine-level room, but smoke and water damage brought estimated costs to about $400,000, the Fire Department reported.
Traffic on First Avenue was closed during the fire. No one was in the building, and no injuries were reported.

aunteesocialParticipantI Heart Hooverville, and am sad to hear this news. I hope they have kick ass insurance and can recover soon. What a great bar, and the nicest owners you could ever hope for.

AimParticipantThat really sucks. Folks at work were going bananas this morning as this is the Friday afternoon/eve hangout. Apparently the owner is out of town, too.

ToddinWestwoodMemberJust one of the owners was. Billy was in Las Vegas. Todd was still here. I talked to him. They have good insurance. He is bummed, but wants to get in and start cleaning and taking inventory of what was ruined. THe insurance has told him to “not touch anything until he gets there”

MagpieParticipantHopefully they will get it reopened in time for the Mariner season. It’s our favorite after game haunt.

aunteesocialParticipantI agree wholeheartedly with Keith.
Can’t wait to go buy a round of whiskeys when they are up and running to generate some revenue for their recovery!
It’s going to be hard to replace some of their vintage treasures.
