rallivatoMemberMy son is going in to kindergarten this fall 2009 at Lafayette. We are on the waitlist for Hiawatha afterschool program. I am curious if others are having trouble finding afterschool care for Lafayette? I called Hiawatha a few weeks ago and was told they are really trying to get another location to help with the waitlist problem. What are others doing for afterschool care?

pamMemberA lot of us (back in the day!) would meet for the first time that first week of school and start to visit. At least one in the group would be a stay at home mom who was looking for extra money and could walk or pick up kids from school. Perhaps you could call the schools admin asst (they are back to school this week) and see if you can post something on the school webpage that you are looking for child care or perhaps they have a list of local providers?

yourneighborMemberMy kids go to afterschool care at Alki Kid’s Place. The Lafayette kids take the school bus to Alki School and then they join up with the Alki School kids and afterschool staff and walk the 3 blocks to Alki Kid’s Place together. It’s a really nice program. Smaller and less intense feeling than the community center. It would be worth talking to Cheryl, the director 206-938-0145.

fccParticipantI just noticed this and wanted to mention that at the Fauntleroy Children’s Center we offer before and after school care, as well as van transportation, as we are out of the north end cluster and the district does not bus to our facility. We have space available in our program and would be happy to have you visit or call us at 932-9590 or email us at fauntleroychildrenscenter@yahoo.com Our website is fauntleroychildrenscenter.org
Thank you.
