JEMParticipantWhat was going on this morning? Arbor Heights, awakened at 5:30 by helicopters going round and round for about an hour. Monday mornings are tough enough!

PeachesParticipantSaturday night, too, as far east as 26th Ave SW. Looked to be a police helicopter, circling low and slow, complete with spotlight. Makes one peer carefully out the window to be sure no nefarious villain is hiding in the shrubbery!

ToddinWestwoodMemberIt was sitting directly over 21st and Roxbury for quite a while. It woke up the wife and the 5 y.o.
I stepped outside tosee if it was a news or police chopper. Couldnt tell.

WSBKeymasterIf you get a chopper for more than 10-15 minutes and you don’t see anything here, please call us – it’s easier for us to find out while it’s happening than after the fact, or at least to launch a front-page item which often brings in enough comments to get to the heart of things. We had a couple helicopter reports over the weekend and I’m checking with KCSO this morning as, if it was Guardian One, they are the parent agency. Anyway, for breaking news, we answer 24/7 – 206-293-6302 – and the business phone goes with us everywhere so that even if we are not facing the screen at that exact moment, we can start working on it.

JEMParticipantI think they were news helicopters. Turns out there was house fire in white center around 5am. Family had to jump out windows on upper level, saw it on Komo’s website.

WSBKeymasterWe have a story about it and photos on White Center Now.

As for the Sunday morning helicopters – they were chasing a car prowler, per response from Sheriff’s Office Sgt. John Urquhart (2, 3 am Sunday). He told us, “We were looking for a “prowler” in the area of the 9800 block of 22nd Ave SW. Apparently someone trying unsuccessfully (to break) into a car but scared off when the alarm went off.”

flowerpetalMemberThe helicopter this morning was not one of the news helicopters. Looked like Guardian One to me. I was out walking the dog (lets not get going on that topic!) This was near Westwood and north of Westwood. It makes me a little edgy when I see a copter out like that and I wonder if I should be indoors; if there was someone on the lam.

PeachesParticipantI think you’re right, flowerpetal. Helicopter spent way too much time 8-10 blocks north of the fire scene, and was sometimes hovering for long periods of time nowhere near the fire. Shut the blinds and bolt the doors!

flowerpetalMemberAgreed. And the news helicopters have their names garishly painted on the sides of their choppers. There’s no mistaking those.
