(D-New Orleans) since it doesn’t appear in the article, I thought I would add it.

A sleazy, corrupt mayor? Who woulda thunk it? I won’t bother listing all the (R) politicians, as well as the (D)s, who are equally reprehensible.

I suppose it is a wasted effort to point out that he has not been convicted …

‘But Gray Sexton, an attorney who spent 40 years as the state ethics administrator, said proving that potentially unethical actions are also criminal can be difficult.

‘”In a criminal prosecution, you have a higher standard of proof. In ethics, did you accept a gift you shouldn’t have?” Sexton said. “To make that into a criminal conviction you must show that not only did you accept a gift, but that your governmental conduct was undermined by that gift, and that’s a much more difficult task.”‘

Smitty, if you want to start an interesting thread, how about one on the inability of Republicans to keep their footsies out of their mouths when talking about women and reproduction … at the very time they are focusing efforts on convincing women to vote Republican.

This has zilch to do with R or D or whatever (and for cryin’ out loud I just really don’t get why people spend any time on rallying that back and forth … and back … and forth …and back … … and forth … ad infinitum …) … Y’all surely know that NOLA, Louisiana in fact, has always had, is, and will always have THE most corrupt “government” in the nation. This ain’t even news.

    I’m with singularname on this…

doesn’t matter if the dude is black or white.. democrat or republican

    he’s from New Orleans

where if he did what they say he did it was small small potatoes

    he should be prosecuted..

but getting our panties in a bunch about it because of his color or political affiliation?

    nope.

I’m so creeping out now vividly remembering the reverence my family held for Perez & Co., I’ve gotta go take a shower RIGHT NOW.

Oh gawd … and I accidentally shook David Duke’s hand at a Carnival parade in Metairie back in the ’80s. I’m taking Comet to the shower with me!

He wanted a “chocolate city”. Seems like the color is a little darker now.
