JenVMemberBogie at the Maha makes the BEST most creamy delicious Hot Buttered Rum. Homemade mix. It is to die for. Try it – you won’t be sorry!

December 18, 2009 at 10:15 pm #684379
JenVMemberyes indeed. sorry. :) that’s what I have always called it. and really, his name is DON Bogie if we really want to get technical. :)

WSBKeymasterIs that the same as a Hot Toddy?
Pardon my booze ignorance.
If it is, West 5 is serving em during brunch Sunday 10-4 as a fundraiser for West Seattle Helpline.

lindaParticipantAnd so popular they had run out when we stopped in to warm up after the Christmas Ships last Saturday. Substituted Irish Coffee and Coffee nudges and were just as happy.

lindaParticipantSeattleamiga: Thanks muchly for the recipe! I had a copy at one time and had lost it.
And, I believe this is the recipe that is the basis of the Hot Butter Rums at the Maha.

seattleamigaMemberYou are welcome! It makes great gifts too! Buy some Glad containers or some nice glass ones and voila – !!
I’m told you can also freeze it.

JenVMemberit makes A LOT. But it’s SO good. Especially with a spiced rum.
December 19, 2009 at 12:24 am #684387
flowerpetalMemberThis recipe can also be made with soy ice cream and vegan butter. Lots less of calories and artery clogging fat.
December 19, 2009 at 12:32 am #684388
pigeonmomParticipantOMG. That. Sounds. SO. GOOD!
December 19, 2009 at 12:42 am #684389
JenVMemberflowerpetal, that sounds like a great idea! I have to admit, being lactose-intolerant-ish I usually only have one. But making it with soy ice cream sounds like just the thing. What is vegan butter, though? b/c if it’s margarine….eww.
December 19, 2009 at 12:49 am #684390
flowerpetalMemberVegan butter is made with Soy. We get it at PCC and it is much more yummy than margarine.

SueParticipantAfter reading the recipe, I don’t even think it needs the rum and hot water – just want to drink the sugar concoction by the gallon. LOL!

December 21, 2009 at 6:43 pm #684394
lindaParticipantSorry Bogie, my mistake!
Yours are still amazing and I will have to make time for one soon.
December 21, 2009 at 8:53 pm #684395
bsmommaParticipantThanks for all the ideas. I wish I could say “The Hot Buttered Rum I had at ________ was so amazing!” But by the time we made it out for our night cap between 7:30 & 8pm, the 3 places we tried were all gone! Now, call me crazy, BUT if you, as a supplier, consistantly run out of something, wouldn’t you adjust your supply for the demand? It shouldn’t be this hard to get 1….Hot….buttered….rum! Erg. Guess I’ll just make my own….. atleast Santa will be happy!
