    Join your neighbors for a FREE showing of the new, locally produced documentary Shift Change.

    2:30 – 4:30 PM on Sunday, March 24th

    Admiral Library Branch | 2306 42nd Ave SW

    Looking for some good economic news for a change?

    SHIFT CHANGE offers a wealth of inspiration for how we can build better communities by creating businesses that are controlled locally and run by their own employees.

    The film explores a variety of successful co-ops, from the huge Mondragon cooperative system in Spain – a $24 billion group of worker-owned businesses that produce industrial and consumer goods – to cooperatively run laundries and bakeries here in the US.

    SHIFT CHANGE shows that cooperatively run companies are not just some pie-in-the-sky dream.

    Yes, co-ops ARE the future . . .

          But they are here NOW.

            And they are WORKING!

                            * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

    Stick around for a lively discussion after the show, if you like.

    Sponsored by West Seattle Neighbors for Peace and Justice

    A relevant post on co-ops from yes! magazine:

    The yes! article is specifically about consumer co-ops, but many of the same points apply to producer co-ops as well.

    SHIFT CHANGE is about producer co-ops.

    Coming up this Sunday at the West Seattle Library . . .

    The first 10 people will get in free.

    Oh hell.

    We’ll let everyone in free.
