sam-cParticipantDid anyone else get an email from “Neighbors for Tony Provine” yesterday? I got one in 2 of my (3) email addresses. I am not even in his District. I don’t know how his ‘friends’ got my email addresses.
“There are a lot of issues facing Seattle during this exciting time in our history.
For the first time ever, Seattleites are going to the polls to elect their District City Council representatives!
We want to know what YOU think.”- with a link to a survey.
Somehow the emails were more annoying than robocalls because I least I know how people get our landline.

herongrrrlParticipantYeah, I got one too, and wondered where they got my address.

SeaChanty51ParticipantFor a year or more, I got my senior newsletter, I think through Seattle Senior Services, from Tony Provine. The sender changes periodically, though from the same agency.

HelperMonkeyParticipantI too received emails at two addresses so I made an inquiry to their campaign staff, and received this:
.
We’re cleaning up our lists as quickly as possible, and thank you for the information! We always like to remove people who don’t wish to receive our emails.
.
It’s true that district elections are in place, and that citizens from other districts can’t vote for Tony. However, contributions can be made by anyone, and since we’re running a grassroots campaign against career politicians and lobbyists with deep pockets, we’re trying to contact voters everywhere. Additionally, even though Tony will be representing the 4th District, he will be voting on issues affecting the whole city, so everyone on the council is relevant to all city residents.
.
My apologies for any inconvenience, and of course every email we send has an unsubscribe link. It appears you’ve already used it. You won’t receive any further emails unless you contact the campaign personally.
Thanks!

JanSParticipantI, too, emailed the campaign guy about getting emails. I mentioned the snail mail, and he wrote back to tell me that they have never done that, yet there I sat looking at it. And politely told me that if I didn’t want anymore emails, there was an “unsubscribe” button. My original point to him was that I never “subscribed”…went right over his head. :- I also told him that if I was going to donate to any candidate, it would be someone I supported in my own district. That’s who they should be targeting.
