The Velvet BulldogParticipantTaking the BF out tonight to celebrate 1-yr anniversary and the restaurant he wants to go to doesn’t have any reservations left! I don’t get out, so I don’t know any other spots. Need someplace that’s nice but not too pricey, not necessarily in WS. We just had sushi, so no sushi, but pretty much anything else americana/fusion/international.

flowerpetalMemberTVB, how about Springhill?
What place had no reservatons. That might give us an idea what to recommend. I have never failed to have a good meal at Andaluca at the Mayflower Hotel. Also, if you want to go all out, there’s no more fun and a good meal than Teatro Zinzanni. I bet they still have room for two tonight. Mention “postcard” when you make your reservation and you will get $25 off of each dinner/show.

pamMemberHow about McCormick and Schmicks on southwest lake Union?
Ever had Buca di Beppo – that’s fun
July 31, 2009 at 8:42 pm #673521
The Velvet BulldogParticipantHi There: Spring Hill is a bit pricey for me, unfortunately. I haven’t been able to get reservations at either Eva at Greenlake or Boat Street Cafe. I’m looking for something a little more calm than Buca–although I definitely enjoy them for a group of friends!

KevinParticipantHow about the “Luna Park Cafe” ? Very reasonably priced, and you can have a very nice dinner for around $10 each. My favorite is their French Dip. Great milkshakes too. Indoor and outdoor seating.

swimcatMemberI’ve always enjoyed meals at the Cellar in North Capital Hill, off of 10th Ave East. Not much in terms of fancy atmosphere, but I love their food (Italian) and it feels like you are dining in a cave. The service is slow in a good, relaxed, enjoy more wine type of way, which would be perfect for a one year anniversary!
The food is very reasonably priced and I believe there is a coupon in the entertainment book if you have one of those. Regardless of where you end up, have fun!

flowerpetalMemberThere’s a special little Italian place in the Mount Baker neighborhood, right above the I-5 tunnel at the top of the hill with great views back towards downtown. That’s Amore, 1425 31st Ave S, (206) 322-3677. Friendly, intimate, not pricey.

wundrgrrrlParticipantLa Rustica! (…on Beach Drive) Fairly affordable for pasta and pizza’s, quaint and romantic too. There can be a wait if you go without a reservation, but there’s a wine patio or walk on over to the beach across the street.

JenVMemberWe always hit Jak’s for our anniversary. Excellent all around and not too pricey.
Another fave is Endolyne Joe’s – right now they’re doing the Santa Fe menu, and it’s smokin’ good. try the stuffed Serrano peppers…
oh, and happy anniversary!! :)

charlabobParticipantFresh Bistro is the new favorite of the charlabob — went their for our anniversary and for bob’s birthday and had a birthday party for him at brunch. Great food–amazing service and new enough to be eager. http://www.herbanfeast.com/freshbistro/index.html

JoBParticipantVelvet Bulldog
We went to duke’s on Alki for our anniversary and had a great time.
I hope you enjoy yours as much as we did ours.
it doesn’t get better than that no matter where you eat.
July 31, 2009 at 10:09 pm #673530
CMPParticipantMatt’s in the Market is great, but might be hard to get reservations. I agree that JaK’s is great and a good atmosphere for celebrating in private. Happy anniversary!

flowerpetalMemberTVB, I hope you are going to give us the skinny on where you decide to go. If not, how can we send in the paparazzi?

addParticipantSpeaking of great little Italian places, I have been meaning to try Bistro Baffi in Burien – all I hear is rave reviews about the place!
July 31, 2009 at 10:46 pm #673533
JanSParticipantI’ve heard wonderful things about Bistro Baffi…and about a place in Wallingford called Cantinetta,,,about 37th and Wallingford, I believe…and TVB,,,I have 2 entertainment books, if you want to use one of my cards for a place in there…I think you know how to reach me :)

squareeyesParticipantTry out Taberna del Alabardero on 1st Ave in Belltown http://www.alabardero.com/seattle/index.html. I haven’t had dinner there but happy hour (until 7pm) is amazing. Or maybe Maximillien in Pike Place Market. Mmmm!
July 31, 2009 at 11:23 pm #673535
squareeyesParticipantOne note about Taberna del Alabardero…the staff and decor look super upscale but the diners are typical Seattle.
July 31, 2009 at 11:25 pm #673536
sam-cParticipantHappy anniversary!
I’d second La Rustica
Oddfellows cafe (near Cal anderson park) could be an option, with dessert at molly moon’s
I thought Quinn’s had really good food.
smash wine bar and bistro (wallingford) would be nice too- I was pleasantly surprised when I went there. their atmosphere is sort of suburban strip mall (they do have outdoor seating though), but I thought the food was good, the server we had was very nice and knowledgeable and not very pushy.
hope you find a good place.
July 31, 2009 at 11:30 pm #673537
JoMemberCafe Revo here in West Seattle is excellent. Prices are reasonable.
Also Phoenicia on Alki. Once Hussein finds out you’re having an anniversary, he’ll probably pull out all stops with special treatment. You might have to let him know about how much you want to spend. Some items are pricy. Excellent curries.
July 31, 2009 at 11:39 pm #673538
inactiveMemberTry Tamarind in ID. Elegant viet/French . Lovely and not too spendy. Off Jackson in mall on northside of street. Parking nearby. Really, really lovely. Have fun!

The Velvet BulldogParticipantYou all are awesome–and you go out to dinner a lot! ;-) Going to see if the BF is willing to eat on the bar side of Eva, otherwise we’re going to take one of the suggestions from this group!
August 1, 2009 at 5:39 am #673540
CheriBerriMemberDinner hour is long gone now… where did you end up eating?
August 1, 2009 at 5:42 am #673541
The Velvet BulldogParticipantWe did end up getting a table at Eva Restaurant near Greenlake after a short seating at the bar. I recommend this place highly–the food was succulent and wonderful!
Thanks to all of you for the wonderful suggestions however. They are not in vain, I’m going to make a list for the next dinner out!!
