charlabobParticipantThe lavendar plants on the strip between our driveway and sidewalk have to go. They’re old and leggy but they do still bloom. If you want them (or some of them) they’re yours for the digging.)
Jan and JoB have seen them and can probably even give you botanical detail if you’re picky about your freebies. Tell me if you’re interested and I’ll tell you where to go.

furryfacesParticipantHi Charlabob.
We would like to take a look—they may be good for our upcoming plant sale season. Thank you,

charlabobParticipantSent this to Furry Faces but why leave out the rest of the forum :-) We also have gazillions of those tiny purple flowers, which grow from bulbs and propagate and, as far as I’m concerned, are purple dandelions — we’ll have this year’s clean-up crew take them away, but if you’d like some, come and dig. They seem to be just about ready to bloom.

MargLMemberWood hyacinths! They’re taking over my backyard, too. And those bulbs go deep!! If you don’t dig out the bulb they will come back and spread like bamboo, or potatoes.

charlabobParticipantThanks, Marg — at least now I know my enemy; I LOVE purple but these are just out of control. At least now I have a better name than “purple dandelions.” It sounds like they’re not very rare, so I’m probably not going to get any takers for this generous offer :-)
Maybe I should try “Free weeding — help an old lady get rid of her least favorite plants.”

jwwsParticipantWood hyacinths (grape hyacinths) – we’ve tried to get rid of them for 25 years (with extensive garden remodeling) and they still survive from the original plantings – we’ve just learned to live with them…….

charlabobParticipantbump :-) It’s supposed to be nicer weather today — if I’ve told you where we are, just come by and get ’em. Otherwise, let me know and I’ll tell you.
Thanks!

JoBParticipantif i had energy today.. i might come get both…
i am thinking wood hyacinths would be one answer to the planting strip that seems to prefer weeds:(
or to the back alley strip that does the same.
give me a shout and let me know what is left when the day is done:)

furryfacesParticipantHi charlabob, know you sent us an email, however, it didn’t come through (which happens).
Would you be okay with calling us at 932-1652 to let us know where to show up? Thanks again.
Cheers, F3
