GenHillOneParticipantdid Rowdy Gaines just talk about Michael Phelps overcoming “diversity” (i.e. water in the goggles)? Besides seeing everything 3 hours earlier, this is just another reason to love the Canadian channel. I only switch back to NBC if I want to see a replay. If everyone in the room here has had too many frosty beverages, my apologies to Mr. Gaines, but we all just had a simultaneous WTH(?!) moment.

mellaw6565MemberThey’ve clearly run out of angles to cover – there is only so many ways to ask him about how he feels, etc……

acemotelParticipantgoggles in the water or water in the goggles, whatever. One is the opposite of the other.

CMPParticipantFirst off, Rowdy Gaines is a terrible swimming commentator and is another reason to watch Canadian coverage. NBC could do way better, but keeps bringing him back for some stupid reason. Second, getting water in your goggles is incredibly annoying. It makes it very difficult to see the wall or your competition…it’s bad enough to have that happen in workout when you have time to stop at the wall to fix it so I can see why Phelps was not looking happy after his 200 butterfly. Glad to see it didn’t negatively affect his performance though. I’d also like to point out that swimming is a year-round sport, not just a big meet every four years. Maybe NBC will start giving it a little more coverage in the future…yeah right.

GenHillOneParticipantI’m with you on all counts, CMP. I hope that my friend was able to “recordificate” Rowdy’s faux pas…that Dish TV ad was the first thing I thought of! It was all very exciting though and I was probably cheering the loudest for the OLD man, Lezak. And Dara Torres? Come on, how cool is she.
