StumbledoreMemberAs a West Seattle homeowner, gainfully employed taxpayer etc. I figure I’m just as entitled to express my opinion as everyone else.
After all, “all are welcome”, right?
July 9, 2015 at 1:45 am #825386
wakefloodParticipantI’m still trying to figure out exactly what day to celebrate “Dependence Day”?
You know, the day when we officially became an oligarchy of neutered citizens paying homage to the corporate overlords of the industrial complexes?
I want to use Ronnie Reagan’s inauguration but maybe we have to go back to Eisenhower’s speech warning us about the pending indentured servitude?
Either one works. ;-)
Oh wait, there’s the day SCOTUS announced Citizens Negated…I mean United decision. Solid option, that.

StumbledoreMemberI have no idea what you just said but I accept and stand behind your freedom to espouse your opinion.
Call me old fashioned…..just honoring my country the best I know how, and am grateful I live in a place of relative peace and prosperity.
Not smart enough to engage in a battle of $5 words and $10 wit, I reckon.

JanSParticipantTwo Bottles….yes, you hit it on the nose there. Setting off M-80’s while having a beer does not exactly make one more patriotic than your neighbor. And laws were created for everyone…not just for those who don’t think that the laws don’t apply to them. While I understand what Stumbledore (wasn’t it Dumbledore?) is saying, I respectfully disagree with it.

JanSParticipantoh, and Stumbledore? I certainly hope you kept your dog on the leash while enjoying that cool dip ;-)

JoBParticipantstumbledore
can you explain to me what’s “real” about celebrating people who abdicate all personal responsibility and use honoring their country as their excuse?
is making someone else pick up the tab the new American motto… it’s what you can get away with and let someone else clean up the mess?
because that is what it comes down to
personally, i think that the joke’s on us

JanSParticipanthey, Wake…looks like some of your sarcasm is going over some peoples heads ;-)
July 9, 2015 at 11:15 am #825392
JanSParticipantStumbledore…the best you know how?. How about flowers on a soldiers grave….or a service for those who have fallen…or going to Seattle center to participate in the swearing in of our new naturalized citizens. Or a day of thanksgiving with your family. An outing to see some of this beautiful country. Or visit a shut in retired military person…or those who are injured because this country is “all about war”. There are many, many ways to celebrate the independence of this country. Illegal fireworks are not the only way.

StumbledoreMemberWell I didn’t expect a sort of Spanish Inquisition…

LackingStyleParticipantFish in a barrell for ol’ stumbledore.
I told y’all yesterday but you just can’t help yourselves.
Pretty much proves my point about self control / self centering each topic in the West Seattle “Witch Hunt” Forums.
Congrats

JanSParticipantSave_Us_WSB…a serious question…why do you come on here and post anything? If it’s that bad for you, if we’re all being terrible…what’s in it for you, besides rude comments that haven’t a damned thing to do with the topic at hand?
Just very curious…
and Stumbledore? I was making serious suggestions, since you said the only way you know how to celebrate independence is by blowing stuff up. Seriously, is that the best you have? Are you really that limited that you can’t have an honest conversation about this? You protest at everything that others are posting…maybe you need to look inward….and reevaluate…
seems like you just want to complain, and not add anything to the topic at hand…
whatever…have a good weekend…life is way to short to continue on with this bull…
there are many forums out there…maybe you would find some more likeminded people to chat with elsewhere…you don’t seem to care for anyone on here very much. I appreciate your comment directed at me..well, both you and Save whatever…oh, yes…you’re just speaking in general….right?
Witch hunt? Really?

datamuseParticipantNo one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
July 10, 2015 at 3:12 pm #825397
LackingStyleParticipantJanS – same exact question to you.
I guess we have similar levels of narcissism. If you think you have better or more relevant contributions then I would refer you back to previous comments where rather than reading, you attacked some one providing positive feedback for dealing with reality of the situation and caring for our pets. But. You were too busy throwing up ridiculous comments about WS being a war zone and attacking those you don’t agree with.
I am here to point out the obvious, which is clearly needed.

StumbledoreMemberJanS – I never said I was blowing illegal fireworks, just that I support people celebrating the 4th of July.
Have another cup of coffee, I’m buying.
July 10, 2015 at 9:03 pm #825399
JoBParticipantStumbledore
I support people celebrating the fourth of July
however.. when they start shooting off fireworks every night the week before they aren’t celebrating the fourth
nor are they still celebrating the fourth a week after
or every time one of the Seattle teams scores
or heaven forbid wins
or when they are setting fire to public spaces
or when they don’t pick up their trash … there were literally tons picked up off the beach in Ocean Park
and what exactly are they celebrating when they put as all at risk by shooting off fireworks when there are fire danger warnings?
and why are we patting them on the back for that?
kids will be kids? We wouldn’t let kids get away with that kind of behavior and these are adults..
think about it.. if the kids next door threw an illegal kegger, invited everyone they knew to invite everyone they knew, advertised it with non-stop fireworks and let the trash drift into your yard … would you sit back and say we should let them celebrate or would you call the cops?
i am betting it wouldn’t take long for you to call the cops… and I am betting they would not only show up but shut that party down.
America.. love it or leave it?
How about loving it enough to insist on treating it with respect?
let the party animals find a legal place to party
and let then clean up their own mess.
why is that too much to ask?

JanSParticipantwell, now..Save-us…lets see…I am practically a founding member on these forums, but you know…one of the rabble rousers on here…been a member since it’s onset. I have made many personal friends on here in those years, both just in nake, and in person. Because of these forums I got more involved in my community. Because of these forums, I received kindness and help when I was suffering from a life threatening diagnosis. I like to know what’s going on with my neighbors…and I am somewhat housebound at times because of ongoing health issues.
Please show me where I “attacked” someone on this thread. Disagreeing isn’t “attacking”.
I don’t come on here to throw out snark as some people do. I don’t come on here to call out certain people for just posting. I don’t come on here to praise war, because that’s the American way. I rather disdain war…the one’s we’ve had, the one’s yet to come, perhaps.
I also am not a perfect person…at least I don’t think I am…I’m human like the rest of us. And I believe most laws are there for a reason. And even if we don’t like them (ala speed limits), I believe we must still respect and abide by them.
Now…to the calling out of someone who was making suggestions…attacking them, as it were….you are confused. That wasn’t me. So, before accusing, I suggest you get your story straight. And that person apologized for misunderstanding what was written. I suppose , though, that you wanted them to go to the persons business in sack cloth and ashes, prostrate on the ground, begging for forgiveness, she also being a “rabble rouser” (yes, sarcasm)
Oh, well…as I said before…time to move on from this thread.

JoBParticipantSave_Us_WSB
I am JoB…
I am the person who misunderstood someone to say that they would be shooting off fireworks and then followed with the kind of advice that will work for pets that are only mildly bothered by fireworks or who only have to deal with that upset for a night or two…
and yes.. that incensed me.
when i discovered that i might have misunderstood the post, I apologized.
Because that’s what people do when they misunderstand.
But then, if you bothered to read the posts, you know that, right?
what you might not know because you assume i am just some mean person is that i have had to vacate my home every year around the fourth of july to prevent my rescue companion and myself from having seizures due to the non-stop fireworks in my neighborhood.. and not just for the day or the weekend.
the last few years i have been gone nearly 3 weeks and still have to find ways to filter out the sound of fireworks for quite a while before i leave and after i return.
Every year i take my family someplace i don’t particularly want to be and pay through the nose because it is becoming increasingly difficult to find places to rent that are fireworks free… and by that i mean places where fireworks are limited to the actual 4th of july
vacation rentals owners have figured out that they can charge big bucks for providing peace and quiet and they do.
And it’s not just the money.
I have been disabled for the past 25+ years with chronic fatigue syndrome… and i got my disability at a time when the illness wasn’t recognized… because i suffer from profound neurological deficits.. as in when i am stressed i really don’t think so well…
the nonstop booming in my neighborhood doesn’t just stress out the pups…
So.. while you are ranting about the mean person you think trounced on someone who was just providing positive feedback..
you might also consider that you are hitting a gimp.. while she’s down. Should i rant about that?
oh wait, if you actually read all of the posts, you know that too… because i mentioned it in one of my follow up posts to the OP i “trounced”.
So should i pull a page from your book and assume that it’s ok with you to put down cognitively disabled people?
is this where i do the big
HOW DARE YOU …
WHAT KIND OF PERSON ARE YOU ANYWAY?
Personally, i pull on my big girl panties every single day a leg at a time and try very hard to maintain my sense of humor and give everyone who posts here the benefit of doubt…
even on days when i am struggling to focus on the written word because some arse has kept me awake all night dealing with a panicked pup…
and someone else is looking for a chance to jump down my throat because they think i post too much here… and they don’t like what i have to say.
I would really appreciate it if you would get off your high horse and do the same.
