afrikandoParticipantMy decrepit wood privacy fence is on its last legs. I’m on a budget but would like to replace it with something unique. I tried to get estimates for a wood-framed corrugated steel fence, but none of the (four) companies I spoke to will install that. I’d love ideas for both fencing and installers. I’ve got maybe 125 feet of fencing with two gates. I’m in White Center. Thanks!

miwsParticipantAs far as materials, (and what may fall in line with being unique) have you thought about “repurposed” materials, that you may be able to get free/cheap(er) from folks that need to get rid of some building material type stuff? Of course, it would have to still be in good enough condition to last a good while, and might have extra nail holes and blemishes, but hey, that would just give it the “distressed” look that seems to be popular! ;-)
Of course, even at free/cheap, the possibility of extra install cost due to non-standard materials and application may need to be considered, along with any logistics that may make it more of a hassle.
Please note I am not an expert in construction or anything nearly related, but this thought just came to mind as I read your request.
Good luck!

GreystreetParticipantWhich companies did you look into? We had great service thus far from Alki Fence. I don’t know if they use that product or not but we are replacing our fence next week!

hammerheadParticipantI will throw this out there. It is not wood. FYI
I have four sides of my yard with 12 inch cedar planks, very pricey to replace.
So my back fence fell over, and no way could I afford to replace with wood. I could not do chain link either(dogs).
So I choose this metal sheeting, you see used on roofs. I don’t know what the proper word would be to describe it. It is stainless steel no rusting. I had to replace the posts. I can not see my neighbors yard, no big deal. This cost me about 1200.00 3 years ago. No it is not ugly. It is bright, when the sun hits it. I get lots of compliments on it.
As for my other 3 sides. My dad and I literally just flipped the cedar planks, and cut off the rotten part. I did not have to replace any planks.

diane2726ParticipantAfrikando…
Are you looking for a galvanized grid style fence?. Beveridge pub has it..I know that you mentioned that your on a budget, but I would highly highly suggest not using pressure treated posts. They are very unpredictable. .it bows and twists and will rot with in years.. Cedar 4 X 4 post on pipe is the way to go. Only the post will be set in the ground. The wood is not exposed to the dirt…This resulting in a long life time- 20 plus years. Just helps to maybe pay a bit more for this type of posts.longer life of a fence. We would be happy to give you more advice if you would like…

PangolinPieParticipantI don’t know if you talked to West Seattle Fence, but I used them recently based on recommendations here, and was very happy with their quality, service and prices.

realvalueremodelerParticipantI’m a contractor located in WS with several happy WS customers to my credit. (search WSB for Hearthstone Interiors and/or Wes Busch)
I don’t see any issues with building a fence similar to the link you provided.
Let me know if you’d like me to come by for a look-see. 425.221.3203
