Fake IRS Calls

If you receive a threatening call from someone claiming to be with the Department of the Treasury saying you have legal action pending and that the sheriffs office will be issuing a warrant , blah, blah, blah, please be aware this is a total scam. Tonight is the second time in two months that we have received these calls. I picked up on both of them, the first was a SF area code and when I confronted the woman posing as an IRS agent, she hung up on me. Tonight was a robo-call or someone who refused to break her script. She called from 202-697-9213. These people are scammers trying to bully unsuspecting people into giving them money. Do not fall for it!

Thanks for posting. This will be in our next Crime Watch – going through reports from recent weeks, I found two more cases of this reported to police including another one in which some unfortunate soul (*not* elderly, either) fell for it and lost about $5,000 to the scammers. – TR
