JanSParticipantwill there be compensation for this work, since a resume for a very temp job is required? I realize it’s in a private condo, but, wow…the rules and regulations are really daunting.. What will the duties of this very temporary hire be? Make sure no one steals anything? Advertising? Get people/friends to come? I wouldn’t sign up to go to this sale for all the tea in China, considering the rules and regulations.

librarianMemberCould you use someone who could only work one of the day?

krahmerMemberLibrarian: My preference would be to have some work both Friday and Saturday but please share your availability. We currently have about eight people working the sale and I have a couple of additional interviews next week. We are paying a very fair hourly rate and providing lunch each day for folks working the sale. Would be happy to speak with you in person. You can reach me at dkrahmer@schwabe.com
My apologies to Jan S… my aunt has been a resident of West Seattle and the condo for twenty five years and normally the homeowners association wouldn’t allow a sale like this but they have given us special permission to do so. They have asked us to make sure they don’t have folks wandering around the condo complex so we are not trying to be difficult but trying to be respectful to her friends and neighbors. All are really good people and I believe they deserve this respect.
As for the “rules”, this is the first time we have done an estate sale and we are not “in the business”. We want to do this in the right way because my aunt was a very special person who lived a great life. The language in the posting comes from several professionals who have been in the business for years. Again not trying to be disrespectful, but trying to conduct the sale in a professional manner. My apologies Jan S if the “rules” offended you. That was not the intent and if you read them that way it wasn’t intended that way.

shed22Participantkrahmer, thank you for the clarification. I, too, thought the posting sounded a little confrontation but your explanation makes absolute sense and puts things in context.
Best of luck with the sale. I am sure this is not an easy process.
