ChrisMonsosParticipantAndover Street drivers take note – the lanes have been reconfigured and restriped at Delridge Way.
Previous Eastbound Configuration:
1 left-hand turn lane
1 general purpose lane (allowing left/right turns)
New Eastbound Configuration:
1 general purpose lane (allowing left/right turns)
The extra space in the CENTER of the roadway is now an open space marked by yellow hashes, and the changes have most likely been introduced to allow Semi trucks turning into NUCOR Steel a safe turning space.
Early this morning, the road sensors seemed to take a while to “see” my car since I was now in the middle of the two prior lanes.

sam-cParticipantpeople are still lining up as if there were two lanes (and lining up on top of the yellow stripe markings ). couldn’t tell if there were any overhead signs describing the revised lane configuration.

ChrisMonsosParticipantI also didn’t see any “Traffic Revision Ahead” signs in the area…

JanSParticipantsee, there’s the thing. Sometimes you really have to spell it out for people, or they just keep doing what they’ve been doing. Signs would do that.

WSBKeymasterAlso a heads-up from SDOT would have helped, although I know the communications team has been short-staffed the past week or so. I will check for any official word on this. Thanks, Chris, I will also share to the home page. Might be able to get a photo when I head downtown for the “new city website” briefing in a bit …

binicornMemberDoes anyone know why they made this change and if it is permanent?
This is kind of annoying, we already have to accommodate trucks going in and out of the neighborhood, now we have to slow down left hand turns as well? Grrrrr. . .

sam-cParticipantalso, as WSB reported from the Pigeon Point meeting, there is more car traffic going to the Cooper school building now that Pathfinder is there.
so, there are also more people going straight at this light as well. when there is traffic on the bridge, and only a couple cars can get thru the intersection to turn left on the bridge, people trying to go straight just get stuck, waiting……
this morning, I saw this car (black VW bug) get over to the left onto the new stripes, turn right (south) onto Delridge, and then make a u-trun in the middle of Delridge so he was then facing north. Crazy!

GoGoParticipantI’m one of those that goes straight to go up the hill and am not pleased with this. It was bad enough when everyone felt they had to line up in the right lane to turn left, even if they were behind two giant trucks. Sigh…….
