inactiveMemberI’m running away from my remodel from Sat thru Monday to seek respite with my loyal pup at beach or river or mountain. I really don’t care much.
But, I only know about one pooch-positive(100 lbs., btw. Refer to attached portrait:)) motel at the beach. Surely there are others within an hour or two drive, yes?!!
Any suggestions or tips? I knew I should have bought one of those travelling with dogs books when I saw them.
I also have an indoor -only cat needing to board out of house – toxic floor refinishing. Good rec’s welcome on her (Zuzu) behalf too.
TIA.

jMemberThe Alderbrook Resort on Hood Canal is very pet friendly and not too far of a drive.

JimmyGMemberHi-Tide Resort in Moclips, very dog friendly. Size doesn’t matter there, my guys are huge.
Biscuits and towels on arrival, all rooms face the ocean, and a huge nearly deserted beach for pooch to run free.
I think it’s hi-tide-resort.com or google it.
Ask for a first floor unit.

wundrgrrrlParticipantWe were out at Ocean Shores last weekend with the pooches and stayed at The Nautilus. It was reasonable and very dog friendly. Go for a ground floor unit…

HunterGParticipantYachats Oregon Is fabulous! The Fireside motel is right on the water,(I went there on my honeymoon and every year after) you can hear the waves crash all night – clean rooms, friendly staff, decent prices. Pet friendly.
Its about a 6 hour drive – but worth it.

yumpearsParticipantI have heard great things about the SurfSand Resort in Cannon Beach – very pet friendly. They provide dog beds and biscuits. http://www.surfsand.com
I also have the Dog Lover’s Companion to the Pacific NW book which lists dog friendly places all over the NW so if you have a particular area you want to go, let me know and I’ll look it up for you.
And apparently it is corporate policy for all Starwood Hotels (Westin, Sheraton and W Hotels) to be pet friendly.
Hope you find something that fits!

inactiveMemberHey guys –
Thanks from me too. I really appreciate the info. My net access is limited right now, so your suggestions narrow my search. I’ll be checking each one out this AM.
Thank you.

SueParticipantAs for cat boarding, I know Lien Animal Clinic has cat boarding, but I have never used it since we have someone come in when we go away.

JenVMemberthe Seahorse Motel in Lincoln City, OR is both dog and cat friendly. Plus, Lincoln City is a great town, and the Seahorse is within walking distance of great eats and great art.
we’ve been staying here for years – they’re just awesome.

GenHillOneParticipantLove, love SurfSand – sounds like it may be farther than you want to travel, but put it on the list for another time! We’re dogless, but have always joked about borrowing one for the trip just because it looks like so much fun :)

flowerpetalMemberWe travel annually to Iron Springs Resort which is 3 miles north of Copalis Beach. With friends we have five dogs between us and they love running on the beach. Many of the cabins are on cliffs above the beach. This isn’t luxury and the cabins are dated; but still a relaxing get away.

RainyDay1235MemberYou MUST go to Long Beach or Seabrook. If Long Beach, I recommend the places below – the staff love dogs, the rooms are breathtakingly beautiful – beach chic – and right on the dunes where off-leash dogs are welcome. A joyful trip all around!!

JoBParticipantWe discovered a new fav dog friendly spot at the beach
http://www.tradewindsonthebay.com/
The units are railroad flats.. entrance in the bedroom.. kitchen.. living room with fireplace and hdtv and surround sound and free wifi that have a door opening onto a patio and lawn facing willapa bay… where you will find plenty of dog walking room.
We spent the weekend and it was peaceful in spite of an on-site wine and art function on saturday night. I can really recommend it for those whose idea of a good beach trip is sand, sea and great seafood. The Nelson crab company is just down the street and the crab and shrimp cocktails are as fresh as they come.
the dog fee is a bit stiff at $50 per stay.. but the units were $100 a night off season.. in balance a pretty good deal for what we got.

JanSParticipantI am soooo jealous…I need a weekend away :)
