anonymeParticipantSenior male golden retriever (more red than gold) spotted wandering south on 35th past 102nd just past noon today. No collar, soaking wet, wanted to follow me but was too scared to be approached. This poor guy looked miserable and desperate. I don’t want to call animal control for fear they’ll euthanize him due to his age.

KBearParticipantPLEASE call Animal Control. They’ll try to find his people. He’s much safer with them than running around loose.

luckymom30ParticipantI agree in not calling Animal Control. I live near that area. The dog is scared but if you try to approach with treats sometimes that works, as it has with me whenever I find a dog wandering the neighborhood. There are several homes that do have an older dog with that description here in the neighborhood. I sincerely hope they are reading this blog.
Just 2 weeks ago I found the cutest dog wandering 35th, wet, dirty and hungry. Good thing I did not call Animal Control since within hours I received a knock on my door asking if I had seen the dog, I had given him to my neighbor in the hopes of finding the owner.

funkietooParticipantKBear is spot on. If anyone can get the dog to follow them home/into their fenced yard, call Regional Animal Services KC as they will keep him safe until his owners find him.
They will not euthanize him because of his age.
They will provide him with warm, dry, safe shelter and meals.
