cjboffoliParticipantI cringed when I saw that the journos trotted out that old cliche of describing his death as being from a MASSSIVE heart attack. That’s as bad as when they say a crashing airplane SLAMMED into the ground.
Don’t even get me started on how often we’ll see that innane Victorianism “passed away” or “passed” as opposed to just saying he died.
Dick Clark surely was a staple of many televised New Year’s Eve celebrations. But I also appreciate his role as the host of the $20,000 Pyramid.

DianeParticipantmy primary beloved memory of Dick Clark is American Bandstand; our generation literally learned how to dance watching his show; and because I grew up in So Cal, also got to see several of my friends dancing on his show

and like some of the tributes have said, it was first opportunity for many of us to see what our favorite singers/groups/bands looked like (this was pre MTV; most of our access to new music was AM radio, and if we liked a song, we could buy what is now called vinyl; back then they were just records)

JiggersMemberWhile Dick was more my moms and dads time, I remember him hosting the $25,000 pyramid game show though which at the time was the $10,000 pyramid game in the early 70’s.
