kmweinerMemberI have good teeth and rarely need anything done except for 2 cleanings a year. My insurance no longer covers this. I am looking for a dentist who charges a reasonable price for this service and wont be demanding exams and xrays. Thanks in advance.

JanSParticipantnot sure if they’ll just do a cleaning, but there is this:

mae64MemberCall Senior Information & Assistance they can tell you about what once was called the Dental Care Access Program which got most Seniors a 25% discount. They should know about other options as well. 206 448-3110 or http://www.seniorservices.org

dbseaMemberYou might check out Geriatric Dental Group in Federal Way (253) 839-1300.

angelescrestParticipantI have found the Vellings on Roxbury to be fabulous dentists who look out for the cost of care. I would call them: 206-767-3480. (By the way, this is a dentist who–when he heard about my daughter’s accident five years ago–made a house call!!! to check out her teeth. That has struck me as unbelievably caring and generous.)

singularnameParticipantMight give a call to Dr. Dunham, just a block or two south of West Seattle High School on California. Most definitely won’t force, guilt, or otherwise you into xrays or anything else, and he and his staff have always demonstrated good ol’ fashion, plain-talk “customer service,” so I wouldn’t be surprised if they might have a sliding scale or something. Hygeniest Micky is excellent!

queseraMemberI would second the Vellings. Explain to them your situation. I feel confident they will work with you and not push you to do any unnecessary work.
Also, some senior centers have hygienists who come in just to do cleanings. Contact the West Seattle senior center and ask if they have a connection. That way, you’ll pay for a cleaning only and not the overhead.

queseraMemberUpdate to that: Burien Senior Center definitely has a hygienist (who may also go to West Seattle senior center). More info and appointments: Clydene at 206-355-0448.
