I work downtown and was planning on taking a quick water taxi trip over to the West Seattle to view the eclipse. I’m pretty sure that view would be unobstructed since the sun will be in the ESE direction.

Does anyone have any thoughts or foresee any issues with this plan?

    Thanks!

I think Seattle will be at 98% totality, but you will need specific solar-eclipse capable shades even so. Totality is down in oregon.

I’ve been anticipating this since I was 17…and planning for the last 3 years.

I would think you could see it from downtown, the partial eclipse will be at about 93% in Seattle http://www.king5.com/news/eclipse/will-i-be-able-to-see-the-solar-eclipse-in-washington/461397024 I am sure if you have the time and ability the view would be better from the dock since there would be less obstruction.

I urge people to experience the eclipse from a greenbelt or wooded park, as I did many years ago. Your “view” of the eclipse will be far less memorable than the unexpected sound of birds and animals going crazy in unison as the natural world abruptly changes.
