The empty field on the east side of Highpoint Park and Playfields had a sign stating that an 80- plus unit condo development will be going up soon. That land use sign was moved to the south end of the field where hardly anyone will see it. It would be much more visible to park users and traffic if it were posted on the side facing the playfield. There is not much comment likely (supposed purpose of the post facto sign) with the sign safely hidden from view.

I mention this because as it is now, this vista offers a much loved view of the city at this most “high” point and which will soon be gone forever. Not to mention that tired old issue of No Parking for 80-plus units. (can you imagine when there is a baseball game and trying to park?.(I’m not positive what the name of this park/playfield is but it’s in the Highpoint housing area)

Lots of new homes are under development for the general High Point area – that was the original plan – but I’ll go look for the sign you mention. Haven’t seen any new applications lately but I haven’t checked the city database in about a day and a half due to everything else that’s been going on – TR

i have just driven around and am only seeing the sign on 34th north of WS Elementary for 14 houses and 6 townhouses.

the sign is at the south end of the empty, unused grassy field (it’s not a playfield–it’s across the street from the playfields)– visible only from the sidewalk; the cross streets are Myrtle and 30th. Like i said, it’s not easy to see.
