Is anyone else having pretty severe comcast internet problems this morning? It seems to be half-working…sometimes I can reach a site, and then the next minute I’m unable to. Unfortunately I can’t remember my password for their site either so I can’t check for a local outage.November 9, 2014 at 6:29 pm #819223
My access has been really slow the last couple days, most noticeably pages slowly, or not at all loading.
Haven’t been able to get FB to load enough this morning, to check a PM I received.
Also, have noticed the daily Microsoft Security Essentials Virus Scan that runs daily, has taken over four hours the last couple of days. I don’t regularly note how long it takes, but usually seem to be over three hours, but less than four, and I think much closer to the former.
I’m in Highland Park/S. Delridge.
I didn’t even think to check Comcast’s Site, but will do so and report back here.
Might take several minutes, as I’m in the middle of another non-online/non-computer task.

Still trying to get to where I need to go on Comcast’s site.
Pages slow loading, probably because they are so graphics intensive.
Virus scan finished a few minutes ago, just shy of 4 1/2 hours.
Just about to get into the other task full-on, so will not be able to report back for awhile.
Gonna reboot the laptop too.November 9, 2014 at 6:48 pm #819225
Thanks…still trying to get my password reset with them to just begin the process of getting support.November 9, 2014 at 7:35 pm #819226
Ok, I was able to reset my password and there are outages reported with an ETA of 2pm. So I guess it is known to comcast…hopefully it will be fixed soon.November 9, 2014 at 7:35 pm #819227
If you’re on Twitter, check our feed, much discussion about this, not just Admiral. Frankly, Comcast outages tend to be so localized and frequent that we just can’t publish news stories about them as we can about (less frequent, more quantifiable) power outages … although I might have to reconsider that.

Down on Harbor Ave, we’re having trouble with comcast channel 13 (the station Seahwaks will be on in an hour or so).
Channel 13 comes in but no HD even though it’s available on other channels.
Any ideas?November 9, 2014 at 8:27 pm #819230
Thanks for the info, everyone.
Back on after just over an hour off, having let both the laptop, and C’cast wireless modem take a little nap. Still the same, but now I see why with these newer posts.
I actually tried to make another post, that I got as presumably would have shown as post #5, or perhaps #6, if rsws and I were posting at the same time, but I got Google Chrome’s (This Page Unavailable or whatever it sez.
Was going to share on that post, that I got as far as the FAQ type thingy on C’cast’s site, for the speed test, but couldn’t see how to run it, just what they were saying what to expect, etc.
Tried the Site Map, but that mostly showed me useless crap, much of what appeared to be adlike.
Okay, gonna C&P this, just in case it doesn’t post, so if all y’all don’t see this, that’s the reason! ;-)November 9, 2014 at 8:57 pm #819231
For us Comcast gives an estimate of 5 pm for service restoration.
I threatened the kids with no TV, and unexpectedly got some help ;)November 9, 2014 at 9:13 pm #819232
I’ve been on Comcast since around 9:00 and haven’t noticed any issues. I just did a speedtest, which showed that I have ab. 16.33 mbps download speed, which is fairly close to normal. I live near WS High School.
To test for yourself, go to http://www.speedtest.net.
I haven’t tried TV today.November 9, 2014 at 9:33 pm #819233
I live within a block or two from WSHS too (38th and Hanford), funny that yours works and mine doesn’t! Still half-broken and ETA is now 5pm from Comcast for me as well.November 9, 2014 at 10:32 pm #819234
The no-HD thing on Channel 13 was probably unrelated. We were having trouble in our master control with a piece of Fox supplied equipment that allows us to insert local commercials in network programming. It started putting out a standard definition signal instead of a high definition signal, which is probably what you saw. If you were watching with an antenna, as I was, it was appearing as a standard definition picture in a black, picture box frame. We’ve either fixed or bypassed it as I am watching the Seahawks game in high definition at the moment.November 9, 2014 at 10:40 pm #819235
I just checked TV at 2:40 and it seems to be working (though I just looked for a second while setting up a DVD for my wife). This is a few blocks west of the High School and PCC. Good luck.November 9, 2014 at 11:24 pm #819236
Just got a text from Comcast that the issue has been resolved. Seems to be working now!November 9, 2014 at 11:26 pm #819237
Everything seems back to normal now (3:25).
Was mostly away from the computer for a couple hours, while watching a Movie. (Tee Vee including On Demand has been just fine.

I just redid my test and got 20 mbps download, which is what I am paying Comcast for. MISW, I assume you are paying for a higher level of service — or you are on a better connection to Comcast’s primary hubs.
I used to do the test a lot when I was having router issues, which I thought were Comcast issues even though they weren’t. It’s still interesting to see time of day variations… and variations in situations such as snow days when everyone is home and online.November 10, 2014 at 2:27 am #819240
When it comes to Comcast, I’d recommend installing their app on your phone (if you have an Android or iPhone that is) as regardless of home connection, you can still check for outages.
Also, if you have your cell number connected to your account (Primary contact #, registered as your mobile, etc) you can text OUT to 266278 (COMCST) to check for outages in your area.
I know it doesn’t solve anything when you’re having a problem but at least you can get a little more info on how/why and an estimated time for it to be resolved.
