anonymeParticipantI have an Olympus OM2 35mm camera in very good to excellent shape. It comes with leather case, flash, and manual. A couple of years ago a guy at a camera shop offered me $25 for it; nice try, pal. From what I’m seeing online, it should be worth $150+. Does anyone out there know the true value of these cameras? I am not a photographer and need to sell some things. Thanks for any information…

JoBParticipantthe true value for any item is what someone will pay for it at the time and place you want to sell it.
that said… the easiest way to find out what the traffic will bear is to post it at what you think the value is based on other ads and see if someone steps up to pay for it…
if not.. you need to ask for less.

FranciParticipantTry contacting Glazers over in the South Lake Union area. They sell new and used camera equipment. I’ve found them to be very helpful and knowledgeable.

clark5080ParticipantDo a search on ebay and see what they have sold for there. At least gives you an idea

velo_nutParticipantSorry… it’s going to be around $25-30.

chairboyMemberIf you search on ebay, you don’t want to check what the current bids are — you want to see what completed items actually sold for. Do an advanced search on ebay, and check “completed items.” Other places locally to sell cameras are Kenmore Camera (I would probably start there if I were selling to a shop) or Camera Clinic in Shoreline, near the Crest theatre. Kenmore currently has an OM2 for sale in their used items.
If you’re looking beyond local, I think the biggest purchaser of used equipment is KEH.
KEH has an OM2 selling for a lot of money — I wouldn’t get my hopes up that high, but you might do better than others have suggested.
And then there’s always craigslist. Good luck.
