A good read on how to transition your indoor/outdoor cat to an indoor cat only.

Another good option is to place an outdoor enclosure up against your house, using a window as the access door, (think dog run, but with a top). I built one under my deck and my cats love it! The have 24 hour access. Are safe from cars, dogs, coyotes, poisons, other cats, etc.

There’s plenty of rats and mice for them.

Snacks? Have you seen the size of some of those rats?

Some of them are bigger than cats.

I think funkietoo imparts great wisdom here. I lived in San Clemente CA in a new development which bordered a huge National “Forest” (I place in quotes as no trees in site). The forest was home to large groups of coyotes (rattle snakes, tarantulas (true!), deer, skunks…). Allowing one’s cat outside was a 100% certain death sentence. Sadly I saw 4 or 5 cats locked in the mouths of prancing coyotes and once a small dog. :o(((

In the Arroyos and Seola and throughout WS there are more and more coyote families and soon the odds of losing a loved pet will increase exponentially. it’s more humane to create protected outdoor worlds for your cats…safe from harm. Thanks for the reminder Funkietoo.

    Thank you ZOne.

Here is the website where I purchased my first ‘dog enclosure with a roof’. I bought the black panels because black just disappears into the landscape.
