dawn211MemberElliot Tire, Alki Auto Repair, Masters, Courtesy Tire, Jiffy Lube?

DianeParticipantAlki Auto, excellent service and work, and great to drop car off, go for walk on beach; but pricey; I used to always go there with coupon, which included tire rotate for $25ish; now the coupon is higher and without tire rotate

went to Elliot Tire for tuneup years ago; major ripoff; will never go back

I have Courtesy Tire coupon; curious to hear feedback on their service; anyone?

star 55ParticipantDoyles, Barnecuts. Won’t use Alki Auto, they always had something that I needed fixing???

B-squaredParticipantI second the recommendation for Alki Auto! Great guys. A nice to linger on Alki while they work if you need to. Look for their coupons:

mrhinehMemberCT = A1. Always have done a good job, timely. They usually have a coupon in the Val-Paks, and usually once you are in their system, they honor it each time. Good guys.

celeste17ParticipantI have the latest val pack coupons and have coupons for the following:
Jiffy Lube 10.00 off
Elliott 15.99 w/ credit app or 19.99 w/o credit app
Alki Auto Basic 26.95 or Full service 37.95
Courtesy 21.00
Master Auto in White Center on 16th 29.95
Just an FYI

dawn211MemberCeleste- I do too, that’s why I’m asking! :)

WesCAddleMemberCourtesy Tire usually charges me $22 with no coupon. Great spot, great people…and you can go for a walk in the Junction or over to Uptown Espresso while you wait.

seeseattleMemberYes, I would never use Elliot Tiire again! Major ripoff! They convince you to replace parts which I later found out were supposed to be lifetime. And then they have absolutely no recourse when confronted about it. You can never do just an “oil” job there.

rockhillsMemberCourtesy Tire all the way. No bait-and-switch, no push for unnecessary work. And as WesCAddle said, they will give repeat customers the valpak price without the coupon.
STAY AWAY FROM ELLIOT. I’ve already posted my story about them, so I’ll just tell you the other posters are not exaggerating.

JimmyGMemberTom’s Automotive! And Tom’s only! Local, honest, years of experience and treat you right.
My Elliott experience is from several years ago:
Imagine my surprise when I walked back there to pick up my sporty little car after an oil change to find my car out “for a test drive”.
Funny, nobody else seems to need to test drive a car after an oil change.
And when the young female employee drove back into the lot in my car I’m not sure she would have been able to tell if everything in the engine was running smoothly or not since she had the stereo cranked beyond any volume I’d ever used in the car.
Never returned after that. Should have heard them back pedaling on why the car was not at their garage upon my return.

FredTateMemberI like Walt’s on Roxbury. I go there for oil changes and recommend them highly. Just make sure to call and make an appointment on Saturdays, they fill up quickly.

SueParticipantWe’ve used Tom’s Automotive and were very happy with them. We were very unhappy, however, with Jiffy Lube. We’ve used Jiffy Lube back east (and up in Lynnwood) and found they acceptable, but the one here on Alaska we did not care for. We took the car there and paid extra for the synthetic oil that is supposed to last twice as long. We noticed that the sticker they gave us still said to return in the usual 3 months (even though they told us the oil was good for 6). So it’s 3 months later and my husband pulls into Jiffy Lube and is on line and then remembers the oil is good for another 3 months. So he tells them to forget it, and explains why, and then they told him they recommended that he change it anyway because the 6 month oil is really only good for 3 months anyway. Then why sell 6 month oil at double the price if they want to still change it early? We felt they were trying to cheat us and never went back.

vickiMemberJust a warning re: Alki Auto. The final straw for me after several years of bad experiences…I know, I am slow to get the picture, they left the oil drain plug or oil filter lose and the oil was leaking from the bottom of my car, and all over the underside of the car. I have a long bad history with them, that same recent oil change, they broke the oil dip stick, no offer to replace it at their expense.
Do not trust them.
I take my cars to Burien Japanese.

DunnoParticipantNeeded my oil changed today and just happened upon
the old Jackpot Gas station just a block from McClendon’s and just west of the round Wa Mutual
in White Center. Just $32 bucks tax included and
only took 15 minutes no appointment. Pointed out
a couple things I need to fix!
