MBParticipantUmmm…because he will be a crappy Batman!! I don’t hate Ben Affleck nor do I care much at all about movies like this, but I agree that there is NOTHING about him that embodies the Batman character. There is a reaction because, in case you didn’t notice, there are a LOT of people in this country who are REALLY in to comics and the movies that are created based on those comics. This has nothing to do with caring or not caring about other things happening in the world. We can’t all live our entire lives dwelling and yelling at eachother online about serious world issues. Some of us need a lighter moment where we can unnecessarily complain about something that is trivial. Sheesh, lighten up once in a while guys! Take a moment, and if nothing else, laugh at it! It will do you good.

JanSParticipantit’s a damned movie…it’s not life. I guess I don’t understand why the uproar before people have even seen how Mr. Affleck would do. No one knows that. Someone even petitioned the White House to intervene and get this done away with. Denied by the WH, of course. What world do these people live in, like the WH would give a rip. And you want us to lighten up? I don’t care if people are unhappy with the decision..I won’t see the movie anyway. But you have to admit, some are taking this to the extreme, like it’s of national importance, and that negates the “lighter moment” in my book…
I’m laughing at the objectors..it’s silly…

JanSParticipanttalaki, in the realm of things n the world, this is a minor thing. I am trying to understand all the todo about Ben Affleck, a very talented man…. and benign..well, that’s your take, and is your right. But when these “benign” people start petitioning…esp. the WH,I start to wonder. You don’t petition the gov’t. when you disagree with a movie’s casting.
And…for the record, it’s a public forum, and I have every right to post my thoughts on here, just as you have the right to castigate me. Geez.

Talaki34ParticipantI don’t get the whole Ben Affleck = New Batman either and while I am not an avid movie fan it gave me a moments pause as to why they would pick him for this role.
Jan- As for posting your thoughts on a public forum, there still is a right and wrong time to do it. If you wanted to understand the OP’s thoughts of why this was such a big deal, you could have simply asked. If you wanted to discuss a chemical attack, another thread would have been more appropriate.

elikapekaParticipantI’ll wait and see – I remember when Tom Cruise was cast as Lestat in Interview With the Vampire, and everybody went nuts. As it turned out, he did a creditable job. So Affleck may surprise. Give the guy a break.

PatrickKeymasterRE: the villain – at this point the movie will either be called Batman vs. Superman or Superman vs. Batman. You get to decide whether The Big Blue Cheese is the bad guy or if Bats is the antagonist.
