Hi everyone is it just me or is there a dry spell in the home rentals in west Seattle? I see so many for sale signs driving down the street thought.

Any one have any leads on a 3+ bedroom home for rent, fenced yard and I have 2 small Maltese dogs under 10 pounds

    Thanks everyone!

Good luck, I have been looking as well and there is NOTHING out there. Have looked at a couple houses in the $1100-1200 range and I wouldn’t live in them if they paid me to! :(

Yes seems most the affordable ones are for sale instead of for rent.

the fact that there are actually houses out there in the 1200 range is, well, not the usual thing. Most rental houses are more than that, frankly. One just has to keep looking…there are lots of houses for rent listed on Zillow…just not the one you want, I guess…

I still see rental signs everywhere..

i especially notice those with fenced yards

there are several right now in the area between Holden and Roxhill and delridge and 35th.

I can’t tell you what size because i didn’t stop to take a closer look..

even though i often fantasize about moving

my gardens are in full swing now

i will be here through the summer.

I would be careful about the first one listed above. We have friends who live on that block and absolutely hate it. They have to call the police weekly, have had their fence kicked in, house broken into, and car broken into on multiple occasions. I have seen several “for rent” signs when driving around. Just a quick search on craigslist I found several that take dogs, are 3+ bedrooms, and are under $1700. Good luck.

This thread is a perfect example of why the new apartments in the Junction are getting financed and built. The rental market is TIGHT right now (apartments and houses) which is driving up rents because there is so much demand. I often think to myself, “who would pay that much to live in a new apartment” (personally I like the charm of older apartments) But I think the answer is that when you cannot find a single-family house in a decent part of town that takes dogs, apartment living for $1500 a month that accepts dogs looks more reasonable (if you can afford it) Let’s not even start talking about the lack of truly “affordable” housing to the working poor in this town. You know how hard it is to find a quality two bedroom apt for less than $1000 in a well located neighborhood on a bus line? Ok, end rant.

Guidosmom, sounds like my current neighbor and her charming daughter.

KGDLG, I couldn’t have said it better myself.

If anyone is interested in “trying” Vashon, I may know of something near the ferry.

RE the Morgan st house linked above.

You have to calculate the good and the bad.

    Pros:

    1) one block from elementary school. You could volunteer to be the crossing guard since the main crossing is right there in front of the gate.

2)One block from Walgreens, pizza hut and the marination food truck and WS coffee drive-through. One block from large park and community center. Two blocks from even larger park, playfields and another community center. 200 ft from two different main bus lines one of which is the last 35th ave stop on the 21 express to downtown.

    3) walking distance (or direct short bus ride) to camp long, longfellow creek trail, morgan junction businesses.

    4) the dogs will cut down on the loiterers and loons if they are big enough.:)

    Cons:

    1) That building you see in the left of the picture on zillow is the SHA apartment that seems to house more than its share of the mentally ill.

2)The convenience store next to that is fairly notorious as a hang out for wannabees and idiots.

    3) This is a high traffic corner and the sound of 35th is a dull roar as well.

4)If diversity is not to your liking then look elsewhere. I like diversity but with my poor vision it is often more fun to pretend all the people in funny hats and/or colerful robes are elves and wizards :)

Saw a For Rent sign on 48th Avenue SW, 5900 block. You can barely see the house from the street, lots of foliage but # was 206-941-2652. The sign didn’t have any other details on it.

Just saw another new sign (by a management company but can’t remember which one!) at the corner of 46th & Erskine. Looks like a nice house.

How firm are you on your price range? I am moving out of town the first week of June and have a 4-yr old house with 3 bed, 2.5 bath, separate office, 2 car garage, small fenced yard and will allow pets.

    Diane,

My cell is (860) 287-(six)(one)(seven)(three). We don’t have a set rent yet but it will be somewhere between $2000-2200, so I don’t want to waste their time if they are looking in a different price range.

    Thanks!

Hey all! I’m just moving to Seattle from Spokane, and I think that West Seattle is a good fit for my son and I…and our German Shepherd :) I’m looking for a rental, however I’m really hesitant to pay more than $1200-$1250 a month, because I would really like to save up enough to buy a home next year. I’ve seen a few on Zillow, but I’m not sure about the neighborhoods. We need to live somewhere that my son can ride his bike safely down the street, take the dog for a walk, lots of kids in the neighborhood, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

West Seattle family looking for short-term lease or sublet. Prefer 3+ bedrooms. August 1st through September 30th. We have a well behaved dog, but will consider boarding her if we find the right place. Thank you
