Packages from Ireland addressed to various people named Mc Cullagh keep arriving at my house. there is no return address . When I give them back to the post office they come back to me a week later. I don’t want to throw these away maybe I can give to charity . Also don’t want to open but customs tags says things like “hat and booties” so I’m thinking these are gifts.

You could try contacting the Irish Consulate in Seattle. He might be able to trace back who sent the packages through the customs tag ID numbers.

It does seem very odd that there isn’t any return information visible on the packages. Even more odd that the US Postal Service allowed it to enter the country without a return address.

Thank you for trying to find where the packages belong.

    Sorry for the edit.

This is a link to the Irish Postal Service.

Check directory listings at http://www.whitepages.com/name/Mccullagh/Seattle-WA – there’s at least one with a WS address. If any of the first names match what’s on your packages, you can give them a call and see if it’s them.

I had this issue with Christmas cards for several years that came to someone who used to live here, also from overseas with no return address. They would send candy bars and photos and tell the addressees how much they missed hearing from them. I would’ve gladly contacted them if only there was contact info. It only said their first names. So frustrating.

Another possibility: The senders have one simple thing wrong.

For example, using a different public database, I just found there are not that many McCullaghs in Seattle but there are two showing an address including NW that if you changed the NW to SW would put the address in south West Seattle.

Don’t tell us your address but using these hints, you might find the intended recipients!

P.S. If none of these hints work, let me know – editor@westseattleblog.com – and we can publish something on the main page. – TR

You mentioned previously that a name on one of the packages was Leo McCullagh. There is a Lena McCullough with a residence in the Admiral district, and a business in White Center. She’s a vet. The name is pretty similar, and I think she’s part Irish, so that might be a lead for you.

Thanks for everyone’s suggestions. I finally realized that I needed to get in tune with social media and I found the right folks via Facebook. They were Christmas presents and have found their home. A single digit wrong in the address caused the misrouting.

USPS does a great job at some things, but they absolutely suck at problem solving on the neighborhood level. No one will take responsibility for misdelivered mail or try to correct the problem. Glad you figured it out on your own.
