“Amazon is dramatically increasing its financial commitment to reshape politics in its hometown, in a move that signals a big shift for the tech giant.

Amazon is spending an additional $1.05 million on an effort to elect a new Seattle City Council, the company confirmed Tuesday. That brings the total funding Amazon has put into the race to $1.45 million.”

That include $$$ for Mr. Tavel. Now, Lisa Herbold isn’t perfect, but this strengthens my decision to vote for her. And wouldn’t it be nice if Amazon, owned by the world’s richest person, poured the money into more worthy causes, rather than ones that simply benefits THEM? No altruism here.

The greatest gift people can give is to study the issues and vote for who and what they feel is important. NOBODY can buy your vote unless you have your hand out. You can be mad at Amazon if you like. But answer this:Are they the ONLY big company to give big money?? The answer to that is NO. If you want credability then you HAVE to call out ALL the Corporations, wealthy individual’s special interest groups that give money to “sway” a vote their way. How do you think ALL the candidates and initiative backers get the money for tv commercials, mailers, billboards?? There are no halo holders polititions here. I’m willing to bet Herbold(or any other politition) would have been happy to get Amazon money.
