babalouParticipantThere was a very good program a few years ago (I think it was Dateline?)that I thought would help Amanda. Whatever other facts there may have been, I for one was convinced by the program that the prosecutor was a nut job. zero credibility. So whatever else is or is not true,, she definitely did no get a fair trial. The recent news re. DNA ruling was encouraging. Does anyone know if the state department has gotten involved in her case?Wow–I went back and read some of the older posts re. Amanda. You think she’s guilty because she “rubs you the wrong way.” Now that’s what I call evidence. I sincerely hope you are never on a jury and decide to sentence someone to life in prison because she “rubs you the wrong way”. Read The Stranger by Camus-it’s about a guy who was accused of murder because he didn’t cry at his mother’s funeral. Also, how about the genius who figured out she was guilty of murder because she did drugs.

WSBKeymasterNot according to the former FBI agent who has made something of a new career out of defending her. This piece he wrote recently takes a long time to get to the point but contends the State Dept. has done pretty much nothing.

CatPMemberI have zero opinion re Amanda Knox, but feel compelled to point out that the guy in The Stranger actually did commit the murder, and the fact that he did not cry at his mother’s funeral is used by the prosecutor to show his lack of remorse. Just sayin.

MBarrettMillerMemberYa just gotta wonder where else in the Seattle area people are reflecting on Camus….
This is what brings me back to the West Seattle blog again and again.
I have no idea what the real facts are around Amanda Knox and the death of her friend. If she is innocent I hope she is liberated. If she isnt providence will play a role as it always does in its creative way…

babalouParticipantDateline did a good program on Amanda Knox which is really an expose of the influence of tabloid mentality in general. The part about the prosecuter’s obsession with a another tabloid case which he uses to fictionalize Amanda’s case is the best part.
For those who don’t know about this case, Amanda is in prison in Italy for twenty years. she was railroaded. There may be evidence of her guilt but it was never presented in court. She did not get a fair trial.
The case has alot in common with the West Memphis 3 who were recently freed because of millions of dollars of celebrity support. Both cases relied on public prejudice for convictions. Have you noticed how hard it is for prosecuters to admit they were wrong. Unfortunately, AManda doesn’t have the celebrity support (that I know of). They sentenced Damien Echols to death because he listened to Metallica which proved he had no remorse.
