bigmarkMemberI’m going away for a week and am looking for suggestions on where to park my car close to Seatac. Does anyone have any recommendations on lots to consider / avoid? Thanks.

JimmyGMemberI use MasterPark, normally Lot C.
I get discount coupons (I think it’s from my AAA membership).

KeithMemberI also use MasterPark when a coupon is available, especially when the coupon combines a discount with bonus mileage plan credit. I also use SeatacPark.com, they have coupons on their site for the best possible rate and I’ve had good experiences parking there.

WSMomParticipantWe have had great luck taking Sound transit bus #560 to the airport. Picks up in front of RiteAid and deposits at the Departure gate. Almost faster than parking and waiting for the shuttle. Return trip was just as easy.

addParticipantI think MasterPark (I use Lot B) is the best deal. Great service and reasonable prices, and they usually do have discount coupons on their website.

hopeyParticipantAnother vote for MasterPark. I’ve never, ever had a problem there. I usually use Lot B, but they have a covered garage now if that matters to you. I also always use the coupon on the website, especially if I’m going to be gone for a week.

JoBParticipanti use a shuttle and leave my car at home.
it’s convenient, reliable and much less expensive and will come any time of day or night.
if you must take your car… if you belong to AAA there are supposed to be 5 free parking days at their recommended lot.

FranciParticipantI either take a taxi or use one of the MasterPark lots. It depends on how long going to be I’m gone. Do the math, I figure a taxi is about $60.00 round trip. Parking is about $10.00 a day, maybe less with a coupon.
I have found that the shuttle only saves a buck or two over a taxi. I basically stopped using the shuttle when I had to wait over an hour for a shuttle back to West Seattle one evening, I gave up and hired a taxi, was very surprised that the fare was so close in price to the shuttle.

JoBParticipantgood to know. where i lived in minnesota the cost of a taxi was double. i’ll use a taxi here. My time is worth that.

SueParticipantMy husband used to travel extensively for work and for about a year he used Masterpark almost every week. They have coupons on their website and he never had a problem with his car while there. He highly recommends it.

GenHillOneParticipantI’m big on the taxi too. $30 including tip each way and anything over five days I think is comparable in price – less than that, it’s often worth my sanity (more time, less hassle!).

addParticipantThe taxi fare depends on where you are in WS. I’m on Gatewood Hill and take a taxi to/from the airport several times each month. With a $5 tip it is usually between $32-34 dollars each way. I agree, it is usually totally worth it, even if it’s a few dollars more, because you don’t have to wait for the shuttle bus, wait in line to pay, and then drive home!
Also, Yellow Cab will take a “time call” – reservation for pick-up – if you call in advance. I call the night before for an early morning pickup. They are very reliable in the mornings, but not very much so for pickup times later in the day.

bigmarkMemberThanks everyone. Normally I would take a taxi, but for this trip we are taking our 9-month old daughter, and I can’t really bear the thought of getting her and her carseat, along with all of our stuff, in a taxi. So I thought that driving down to the airport and taking a shuttle over would be the easiest, assuming it’s not too expensive. Turns out that there are some very reasonable options down there. As a couple of people mentioned, AAA offers discounts that can bring the cost down to $7 – $8 a day. If I can park for $50 for the week that I’m gone, I’m already better off than what the taxi would cost me. Not quite as convenient as door-to-door service (assuming the taxi comes when requested), but a pretty good trade-off. For shorter trips, this would be an even better deal. I’m going to try it on this trip and may consider it for future trips. Fortunately, both our departure and return flights are midday, so we can budget lots of time to get there and not have to worry about doing any of this in the dark. We’ll see how it goes. Thanks everyone for your input.

AnonymousInactiveI’m not sure who you are flying (what airline) but I just wanted to remind you that if it’s Southwest, be sure to print your boarding pass 24 hours in advance. Especially since your traveling with a little one. They don’t pre-board families anymore, so you would want to try and be in the first boarding group.

AnonymousInactiveWe always have Shuttle Express pick us up and take us to the Airport, then when we arrive home we take Shuttle Express back home. It is well worth it. You can schedule your shuttle ride online at http://www.shuttleexpress.com/index.html. Have a safe trip!

BobHMemberSo much talk around Taxi Fares. Well, while reading this thread, I went looking and noticed one of those online taxi fare estimators being available for Seattle. http://www.taxifarefinder.com/ It’s worth a look. (It seems accurate, when I applied the fares from Sea-Tac.

JanSParticipantfor those taxi needs, try Crown Black Car Service…they have exceptional rates, are pretty cool people…
