IrukandjiParticipantCongrats to Aim for her guess of 8lbs 7oz! The actual collection was 8lbs 9oz – all still waiting for Seattle Public Utilities.
Aim, I look forward to arranging delivery of your prize!

AimParticipantLOL!!! I can’t believe it. I never win anything. Shoulda known I’d win the POOP contest. :-)
And yes, our four giant cat boys put out about 10 lbs a week, so I figured it’d be similar for two pugs.
tag: fecalfest. Now THAT is funny.

austinMemberWhat did you weigh it with?
And how do the two of you know how the weight of your cats’ poo?
December 31, 2008 at 9:37 pm #652743
AimParticipantaustin: we scoop into a litter locker and take it out once a week — we both work out, so we’re pretty good at guesstimating weights. :-)

IrukandjiParticipantAustin, we have a calibrated scale that I took outside to weigh each of the bags of pugpoo collected from my side yard after the snow melt.

austinMemberMakes sense. That’s a fair amount of dook. Makes me sort of curious about the weight of sandbox output from my household.

flowerpetalMemberI fear we are going to have as many posts about dog and cat poo as we did about booze, bacon and rum balls. I will continue it on:
Would it make sense that your cat or dog would poo close to the amount of food by weight that your little critter eats in a week?
December 31, 2008 at 10:59 pm #652747
IrukandjiParticipantHmmm.. perhaps, though once soaked with snowmelt and decorated with yard debris it may weigh more, though we’d have to subtract the quantity re-eaten by the pug who is, I’m sorry to say, a turd snacker.

JimmyGMemberTwice a day for 10 minutes our dogs get huge bones to chew on.
As expected this results in some bone passing through their systems and ending up in their poop.
Apparently crows are low in the bone nutrient department because the last month or so they are all over the poop pecking away at it and flinging it all over the yard. And we pick up the poo once a day.
Nasty fecalpheliac crows!

JoBParticipantaim…
isn’t it good to know there are things you are good at;)
now.. what if it had been shibas instead of pugs???
;~)
January 1, 2009 at 12:57 am #652750
miwsParticipantMeanwhile, one remaining crow up on the wire is shouting down at the rest, “NO! NO! NO! You idiots! I said ‘Let’s fly down and peck the SH*T outta those BONES!!'” ;-)

AimParticipantJoB – for shibas I’d increase it by about 30%. Don’t ask me why. Somehow I’m just good at math and poop. ;-)
phrase of the day: “fecalphiliac crows.” Everyone work it in to your conversations today or tomorrow. Let’s see if we can start a trend.
