redbeard36ParticipantJust curious if anyone knows if the place has been sold or something. I haven’t been there in several months, but we went last night and none of the usual family members were there. There seemed to be an entirely new staff and the chef was doing a lot of On The Job Training with the servers.

jolows58MemberI was wondering the same thing. I usually go there about once a month, hadn’t been there in a few, but this month the food was noticeably different on 2 orders.

KenParticipantIf you try to find it with google streetview, a bus is damaged and broke down in front of the place.
Maybe people could not find it :)

HunterGParticipantI hope they haven’t changed hands, I love the owner. I find older Italian men absolutely charming!

redblackParticipantjo: which is far preferable to screaming.
WSB had a story on them about 8 weeks ago, because they were going to start opening for lunch and had some good deals on a personal pizza and salad, which immediately piqued my interest. but i haven’t made it down there for lunch yet.

squareeyesParticipantThe sign on the door says open at 9am. We stopped by at 9:15am yesterday (Sunday) and the lights weren’t even on yet.

hollyplaceParticipantIt is still owned by the same people. We went there for lunch a couple of weeks ago and it was great, but we were the only ones in there the entire lunch shift. I am sure that they had to hire people to cover the extra lunch and brunch shifts. They are very welcoming to Children too and even spent some time at our table doing magic tricks. It was a delicious and relaxing lunch. I can’t wait to try the eggs benedict on the weekend.

redblackParticipanti can happily report that abbondanza is still open, if a bit sparsely populated for lunch.
however, the “presto presto” lunch special is great. choose of 2 out of 3 options: “pan” pizza, soup, salad. $7.95.
i got a pan pizza and a caesar. (house/garden salad is also an option.)
the pan pizza is about 6″ x 6″, on thick homemade pizza dough (more like a simple bread) with mozz and marinara. your choice of one topping – but you might be able to barter for more.
don’t get your expectations all on a high horse or whatever, west seattle. it’s not a typical pizza. but it is all fresh and homemade, and the marinara has a nice, sweet tomatoey undertone.
the caesar was a generous portion. the dressing has a bit of a tang, but it offset fresh romaine nicely. and it’s served with a giant homemade crouton.
delicious, fresh food, in my opinion. i’d eat there more often if i had more days off.
the wait staff, while friendly and attentive, seemed to be a little bored. so i suggest going in there and livening the place up.
anyway, with a glass of white wine, i was out the door for $14.25 plus tip.

nighthawkParticipantI love Abondonza. My family eats there at least once a month. I am not crazy about their lunch offering though. I raved about Abondonza to a friend and we went there for lunch not realizing the super limited menu for lunch. There were a few issues, including service which considering how great service is for supper I was really surprised.
However for supper, recommend it to anyone. They did change their pizza menu a bit recently but the general specials they have each night were mostly the same. Love their gnocci and the feste del mar on Friday nights.

PumpkinfishMemberShout out to all, abondanza is awesome now that it has a real chef and wait staff. The food is turning fabulous while maintaining the original intent. I only wish the new chef would elaborate the menu beyond the usual. I have been going there for years and it has never been better.
