    …to get off my chest.

I am tired of this weather.

    1. I built a tiki-style lounge in my backyard, I want to use it. A fellow Blogger gave me the koolest bamboo furniture for it.

    2. I miss bbqing. I need a tri-tip, bad.

    3. At this point i even miss mowing the yard.

    4. You cant buy a sled or sliding device in W.S. or W.C. to save your life.

    that is all.

Todd – AMEN! I’m a summer girl. I like about two days of this hooey and then I’m craving a pina colada on my deck and a BBQ. We’re in Westwood and we have a sled that we’re not using. PM me for the hookup if you need it.

Ditto here. I moved from New Hampshire after five years of this. The last year I was there–at least six inches of snow every Thursday for at least a month and a half. Literally, every Thursday! It became a joke: “It’s snowing? Oh, it must be Thursday.” Take heart, though. The Solstice is upon us!

Heck, you might get lucky and the power will go out for days and you’ll be grillin’ that tri-tip up in no time! You’ll even have fresh slush for those pina colada’s! All your neighbors will smell the BBQ and be envious…

    #651207

oh, you dont even know. The last time the power went out over here, we ate like kings. I am ready, is the QFC meat dept????????

Wish it would just get warmer. I want to drive my car again. I want to be able to go to the store and not have to think about what I am buying because I am walking. I enjoy the walking but I still want my car close so I can deposit the packages before I go to the next stop.

I’m not a snow person. I don’t know how to ski and don’t care. I have a hard time staying warm when it’s 55, let alone 25.

I’ve lost two days’ pay now, being unable to get to work and too new to have vacation pay yet. I may lose another on Monday because my employer doesn’t close, ever, apparently.

I am missing holiday stuff with friends and family. I want to do normal weekend things like cook for people, go to the movies, etc. But I am cooped up.

Sorry to be a wet blanket on those of you who love the snow. But I’m not feeling the love.

    ToddinWestwood…

in this kind of snow.. cardboard makes a great sled, especially for the little ones… fold up the front in a point then bend it back so it offers protection…

and you haven’t had good bbq till you tend it in the snow…

i think it has to dip below 0 for minnesotans to give up the grill:) .. though i never could figure out how they kept the gas lines from freezing…

They even bbq on the ice while ice fishing… at below 0… i think their brains are frozen:(

at 40 degrees they all line up in shorts outside the ice cream stand to get the first ice cream of the season…

a tiki party in the snow would make sense to them.

I am so glad to be back in the NW.. where all of this is temporary and spring lasts longer than a week….

Well. I pulled out the fire pit and called some friends last night. We had a outside snow party.

A couple coffee pots and a bunch of warm drinks, we stood around the fire pit till about midnight. It was pretty fun actually.

Ohhhh I want to use our firepit today! Great idea. A little Kahlua in the cocoa, and we’ll be warm. Might be just the night to BBQ – it’s just outside the kitchen on our deck, so we just plop it on, set the timer, and then come back inside.

    .

I would NOT want to have this kind of snow all winter, but right now I’m loving it. We can walk to friends’ and groceries etc., though, so we are fortunate in that regard.

    Todd,

    I hear your pain!

I pulled out a big fat steak yesterday to BBQ today, will put on a little Louis Prima and Martin Denny, big pint of 10/30 weight beer to warm the cockles.

Roxbury will have never smelt so good today!

    Cheers mate!

This weather has had no affect on my cold beer consumption.

Kayleigh, I can relate. I had 2 vacation days left (which I used Thursday and Friday of last week) and now I’m also headed into unpaid days if I take off anymore (and tomorrow looks likely). My firm also doesn’t close for anything. I am tired of this. I moved out of NYC partly to avoid weather like this. But if I’d been there, at least it would’ve been plowed and de-iced, and sidewalks cleaned, and I wouldn’t be so paralyzed by it.

KL, you are SO right! I X-country skied through the Boston blizzard of ’78, but that was then and this is now. And Boston, getting hit again, would be plowed, de-iced and full of drivers who knew what they were doing. And what IS with the sidewalks in front of businesses. We wanted to go to the Bohemian before we went to a concert last week and there was pure ice the whole block. I said to myself, “Self, is it worth another few days in the hospital while your new hip recovers?” My self said, “HELL NO!” and we had a lovely meal at the venue in seattle where the sidewalks were bone dry and bone clean.

It is pretty and it will disappear before March.

BTW, this is the shortest day of the year — from now on they get longer. I swear I can tell.

Thanks, Sue and charla, for understanding. I’m a summer girl for sure. I don’t like hunkering down inside. I’m a runner and no way could I run in this stuff. I doubt I will make it downtown tomorrow either.

And for heaven’s sake, it’s snowing AGAIN.

I’m coping by eating chocolate chip pancakes and entertaining myself with my iTunes. My latest obsession is Canadian roots/folk music. If I had any alcohol in the house, I’d be drunk. And y’all know I rarely drink.

Kayleigh, I just bought a treadmill from someone on here (thanks again Jim!)

If you can get to Highland Park you’d be welcome to come by here and run.

Aw, Aim, I wish I could get there. Not sure I could make it much farther than the junctions at this point.

And thank you. This too will pass…if it would just stop snowing.

I’m sorry to be so positive and I was TOTALLY in the same mood a few days ago when we couldn’t get to Portland for our extended family Christmas party, and knitting got canceled, etc. But since then I’m having a BLAST. If there is anyway to get out around people, I guarantee it will cheer you up. People at The Junction today were all smiley. It was a blast to be out and about. I went for a quiet walk this AM too, with the camera. It can be very peaceful. If you’re at all into Advent also, and the idea of “waiting” it can even be kind of spiritual. I also recommend a hearty shot of Bailey’s in your morning coffee.

Cheers everyone! And remember that you live in one of the greatest communities in the world!

Dont get me wrong. I dont hate snow. I just like it to be gone after a day or two. A solid week of this is getting too much.

I worked for K2 Corp over on Vashon for many years and snowboarded every free minute I had.

Like Ron Bacardi said “Enjoy it in moderation”.

Todd: I’ll introduce you to my brother at the next get-together. He works for Cascade Designs — currently designing snowshoes I think. Previously worked for HO/Hyperlite designing bindings.

I suspect you two would get along — you have a lot in common besides work, too. Like having really awesome sisters! ;->

I don’t mind the snow in December and January. But those April snow storms in New England I can do without!

Todd, when did you work for K2? I worked for them for about a year.
