I’m just shocked at how many (and how fast) cars speed down this residential block. I can’t even cross this street at the Alaska corner (must do it mid-block) because people whip around that corner so fast and paying attention only to the traffic on Alaska, that they turn the corner at full speed and I’ve nearly been hit several times at the corner when they come out of nowhere. There is back-in parking on this block, and I’ve almost been hit while trying to park because of the speeding. And because it’s not a particularly wide 2-way street, I’ve noticed a new trend where someone honks their horn at the oncoming car and the other car honks back, apparently pissed off that they’ve been honked at.) There are a lot of pedestrians on this block with 3 different apartment buildings. Can we try not to kill our neighbors, please?

That’s always been fairly busy because of the back way into Safeway and BoA, but it seems to have gotten much worse since the re-channel of Alaska to one car lane. It is now a convenient “elbow cut” (41st to Edmunds to Cali) to get to/past the Junction quicker than staying on Alaska.

Unintended consequences of yet another road diet brainiac decision!

On a side note, that is why the WSB is backed up all the way down to the exit to Admiral every night during the evening commute. It rarely existed before they re-channeled Alaska.

    Be careful out there!
