I wrote comments to them that had a lot of similarities. I’m a disabled woman with a cane, and I live 1 block from the 55 and get off at 3rd & Union, 1 block on the other end to work. I don’t wish to change buses in Pioneer Square where I do not feel safe even during the day – and coming from someone from New York City, this says a lot. Last time I was in Pioneer Square after dark and went to the light rail station, someone was screaming at me for money, and when I ignored her, she followed me all the way down to the platform, escalating her screaming at me, and then when she caught up with me was in my face, demanding to know why I ignored her. I was terrified. Even during the day when I got out of the bus tunnel to go to the courthouse, people harassed me. I have no interest in changing buses there, especially to an already over-packed light rail train. If I have to take the C, that means an extra block and a half at the start, and I either have to get off on the Seneca hill (difficult for me with the cane and breathing difficulties), or I would have to get off at Pike/Pine and walk back a few blocks. Not to mention fighting for seats.

As a renter who takes public transit to work, I pick a home very carefully based on the easiest one-bus commute to work. When I lived on Fauntleroy I took the 54 Express to work since I lived directly across the street. When they cancelled that bus in favor of the C, that meant I either had to walk several blocks to the C, or I had to take the local bus through SODO which took longer, and also fight for a seat. And the commute is already presumably going to be worse to begin with once the viaduct comes down and all the buses go on surface streets. I feel like they are giving me lots of reasons to not continue living in West Seattle, which is a shame.

JoB: I have tried to post information from web sites that you post links to (like sn-opes and pol-itico). I wouldn’t even think of posting things from F-ox or Br-eit-bart because those sites are far too harsh for lib-eral minds.

waynster: Why do you believe that identity politics may only be used on one side of the debate? When a person passionately advocates for the principals and ideology of certain things, an “ist” or “ism” is appropriate terminology. This rule is frequently and loosely applied by your side of the debate as well, but without any evidence of advocation–as I have been accused numerous times of being a ra-cis-t, mi-so-gyn-ist, etc.

People here in West Seattle were very shocked and upset by the elec-tion because they are living in an information bubble. Now they are becoming angry and vindictive. My wife and I have lost numerous friendships and have endured frequent thr-eats and accusations because of our political choice. Everything that opposes your opinions is deemed to be fake news, yet your predictions for ele-ction outcome, vo-te turnover, blocking the inau-guration, rev-olution and now impe-achment are just wrong. Do you see the pattern here?

JoB: Yes. Both sides previous to the current admin are guilty. Over regulation is oppres-sive, de-regulation is less.

I don’t agree with removal of enti-tlements being a form of opp-ression, but that is a longer discussion than I am apparently allowed to post–too many trigger words.

And, as the article that TanDL linked above proves (which I only had time to skim right now), proves fake news can be dangerous.

So, Dave, you want to “influence” people to potentially react harmfully toward others, based on the fake news?

    Mike

P.S. When are you going to respond to the question I’ve asked three or four times already, on a few different threads but unless I’ve missed it have not seen a response; how do you feel about Trump draining the swamp into his cabinet?

    Captain Dave..
at what point did the storyline of what the Democrats could have done override the facts about what the Republicans did do? Are you saying they were Democratic tools?

I am not sure how much more oppressive you think the democrats could have been than our current Administration.. but perhaps re-reading the political definition of that word will allow you to reflect…

    op·pres·sive

    “an oppressive dictatorship”

oh wait.. i forgot.. you have the mistaken opinion that entitled white males are the “oppressed” group… as if ending entitlement equalled oppression :(

Hi all, I just had major foot surgery and need some help with my three kitties. I need to have them fostered for 4 to 6 weeks while I heal and get b acknowledge on ,your feet. The kitties are mostly indoor kitties and use a litter box and ,eat dry food. They are good kitties and love to sleep on my bed. My biggest problem right now is that I can’t put any weight on my foot and obviously can’t do stars and guess what the kitty litter is downstairs. I talked to Furry faces and they will cover theverything cost of kitty litter and food.

Anyone else is the WSBLOG able to help Me? I also have posted on nextdoor about the kitties.

JoB, JanS, JTB: I can barely post anything now with political words or links. It seems to me that WSB has turned up their unacceptable speech filters to include a lot of common dictionary words and phrases related to the guy who got elected or any issues of public controversy. I enjoyed debating with you guys, but it looks like not much can be said anymore–literally. So much for intellectual diversity in Seattle. It’s really spooky that media people want to make it appear everyone thinks the same. (I have noticed that WSB deletes all my posts for the last couple weeks on the front page articles, no matter what I say.)

fascism is corporate or private control of a nation’s economy, and often, thereby, its government. it’s the exact opposite of collectivism or socialism.

fascism, an economic model, should not be confused with authoritarianism or totalitarianism, which are forms of governance.

however, all fascist governments have historically been totalitarian. so have most second- and third-world socialist or communist governments.

but the socialist democracies of the netherlands have nothing in common with, say, the authoritarian or miltaristic socialism of the USSR in the twentieth century.

no, dave. the election was not about socialism versus capitalism. that’s a talking point. the election was about aristocracy running government.

    aristocracy won.

and i think that both major candidates/parties represented aristocracy when it comes to the economy. all other concerns are secondary to our collective fiscal health. obviously clinton is more socially liberal and less susceptible to the voices of religious xenophobia. but trump’s megalomania coupled with republican sanctimony is looking constitutionally dangerous to me.

you appear to need a game. an opponent. an enemy. i can’t think of any other reason why you keep trying to convince yourself that i’m a socialist, other than militant, weaponized ignorance.

i don’t need an enemy to justify my beliefs… unless you’re trying to buy government, or you advocate oligarchy. if that’s the case, we’re going to have issues, because i believe that behavior is contrary to everything this country stands for and all that our predecessors fought and died for.

look: somebody convinced you that the enemy is me, because i took the candy from you, or that i have designs on your money and that i want to curtail your livelihood to empower bums. or that i just want the power to subject you to my morals.

sadly, you would rather believe them than me.

i don’t want your candy, for myself or anyone else. i don’t need your allegiance to my beliefs.

but you may be right that trump is the only one who can end this sh!t. if so, i don’t think he’ll do it of his own volition. he’s going to p!ss off the wrong people: we, the people.

    this could get ugly.

but you and all other conservatives reading this should know that i don’t hate you, or think that you knowingly side with fascists, or that you are my enemy. i know why you voted the way you did, i understand your concerns, and i support and defend your right to vote and believe however you want. viciously. and i think your concerns are very similar to mine; although i don’t agree with the tactic of stridently vilifying your neighbors and telling them and yourself that you know their beliefs better than they do for petty political reasons. we need to end that nonsense.

when push comes to shove – which is approaching quickly – i honestly believe that you’ll see that we’re on the same side.

JoB: Blame the republicrat establishment. Trump was not suppose to win. The deal was likely that Hillary and George Soros were to run influence over all major western media organizations under pay-to-play consult from the Saudi government. It would have been a very lucrative situation for the Clinton Foundation.
