My experience with Comcast was to call and request termination of service by a specific date. Customer Retention would always call back (if I didn’t take the inital offer) with another offer of reduced service, especially if you mention Qwest or VZ competition. Right now, they have lowered basic digital cable and HSI to $24.99 each for 6 months, at which time I will call to cancel again. It’s much cheaper for them to retain customers rather than aquire new ones, so you have to play their game. Its the art of negotiation.
