BikeFor1: I worked retail many, many years. I am often the first to point out how jerky customers can be. For precisely this reason I go out of my way to not be that jerky customer. I’m always kind, polite, and respectful. However, having worked retail I also know that sometimes the policy just doesn’t make sense in a particular situation, and when that is the case, it’s the “right thing to do” for the manager on duty to waive the policy. In the case of someone who simply wants to exchange an item, it’s SOP in most stores to simply allow store credit.
I didn’t take the store’s “side” in this one, because I was not even CLOSE to being out of line, but the employees were being rude and condescending in return.
