One more thing. John is trained in Integrated Pest Management, which looks at the least toxic solutions first. Most pest control companies want you to sign up for installation of bait traps, with a monthly maintenance program. This is a really ineffective and expensive way to deal with the issue – expensive for you, a quick, cheap buck for the PC company. In my experience, these employees receive minimal training, and come up with some outrageously ignorant claims – any scare tactic to make a sale. One told me that rats are not animals. Some of them even claim to be “green”, while using the most toxic poisons on the market.
John doesn’t pull any of that crap. I don’t think he even uses bait traps, as they often mean you (or your neighbors) will end up with dead rats in your walls and elsewhere. The same guy who told me rats weren’t animals told me that once the rat was sick with poison it would flee the house, and that the only time he’d seen rats die inside the walls was due to old age. Right….
