I know, I know. I’m so SORRY for the long posts!

When JoB spreads me all over the place with ton a of one-sentence questions, the complicated ideas and rationale for them merit 8 sentence explanations! Good debate tactic JoB…tough to keep up.

JoB, I’m pleased you find merit in some of what I put out there. HMC Rich, you sound surprised that you agree with me. :)

In the plan I put forth, I reluctantly acknowldge that the power and scope of government can be used for positive incursions into the economy. In addition, I do not shy away from greater regulation of financial products and players. However, I draw a line well-before the point that the government takes on responsibility for commanding the economy one way or the other, and try to prevent its holding excessive amounts of assets that would warp the shape of the economy.

At the same time, the plan pursues policies that requires citizens and businesses to make economic decisions for themselves, essentially putting them in the driver’s seat…as it should be in a free economy.

The plan was not designed to be solely right or left-leaning, but an attempt at the ever-elusive middle ground, leavened with unemotional realism and an eye on a stable future.

It is part of the goal I set for myself: to stay out of accusatory partisanship, and find ways to get both sides to buy into a common set of principles and goals. And I think I’ve partly succeeded here, at least.

Cheers! Have a good lunch.
