Most of them are for sale. Is this any surprise?
Regarding spying I thought I would share Senator Murray’s response to my letter regarding CISPA legislation. On the whole, I’m a big fan of hers but I found this response troubling.
Dear maplesyrup:
Thank you for contacting me about H.R. 624, the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA). It is good to hear from you.
As you are aware, CISPA would allow government agencies and private companies to exchange sensitive information in an effort to identify and respond to cyber threats. CISPA was introduced in the House of Representatives on February 13, 2013, and was passed on April 4, 2013. This legislation has yet to be taken up by the Senate.
I believe we must develop and maintain robust cyber security capabilities to protect critical infrastructure both in Washington state and across the country. At the same time, I share your concerns about CISPA’s potential impact on the privacy of individual Americans. Please know, should CISPA or any other cyber security legislation come before the Senate in the 113th Congress, I will certainly keep your thoughts in mind.
If you would like to know more about my work in the Senate, please feel free to sign up for my weekly updates at http://murray.senate.gov/updates. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me.
Sincerely,
Patty Murray
United States Senator
