How do people feel about an exception for small businesses? A cashier at Target would be paid at least $15 an hour and a cashier at a franchised McDonalds would be paid $9.25.

It seems a little lopsided. Why are we increasing the minimum wage? To provide a livable wage and to decrease dependence on public aid. I don’t see why our lawmakers would offer an exception to a small business. If that small business is unable to pay workers $15 per hour then that small business should raise its prices. If customers are unwilling to pay more, then that business should either close or move outside the city limits. Is that what we’re saying?
