JoB – As much as each of us has our own circumstances…that doesn’t mean that the current system doesn’t work AT ALL. I spent some time checking out the different health insurance companies available, and I do pay a little bit more each month than I’d have to with a different company…but I admit that I get what I pay for, which is a lot. My pre-existing condition was covered from day one with my current plan, since I had no break in coverage from the group plan I had prior. My medical costs aren’t extremely high right now, but will inevitably be quite costly in a defined time period (sorry, I’m not willing to go into specifics here).
I’m just saying that while the current private system doesn’t work for EVERYone…then it’s just as likely that a new public system won’t work for EVERYone either. A hybrid system where private options are available, and where those that don’t like the private options can go with public ones…seems like that would cover as many bases as possible. IMHO.
