If the 5:25 pm departure was no longer available, what exactly do you want them to do? (Though putting you on a connecting flight that left before you were going to arrive is dumb.)
Itinerary changes incurring fees is part of the terms and conditions you explicitly must accept (usually by checking a box) before you can purchase the ticket. If you didn’t notice that at the time of purchase, then it does suck to find out later, but that’s not the airline’s fault.
I’m also not sure what buying your ticket three months ahead has to do with check-in or security times. Pre-check-in has never been available to me on any international flight that I’ve taken and getting to the airport well ahead of time is recommended for ALL travelers on international flights, so it’s not like they’re singling you out here.
I mean, I agree that it sucks that your travel itinerary changed without notice but I guess I’m not sure what your beef is exactly? Or maybe I’m just jaded.
