No one has proposed Socialism. No one. There are elements of Democratic Socialism (or whatever it’s called) that are in the various platforms but nothing more that what is in play in our allies countries.
We socialize many things in this country from roads to the debts and losses of corporations (oddly we don’t socialize those profits!). Health insurance wasn’t even allowed to be for profit until Ronnie Reagan was in office. Now we’ve made suffering and misery profit centers, things like medical care and prisons are now privatized leading to lobbying for more crimes requiring incarceration (while private prisons are worse than state funded) and health insurance is directly benefited by denying claims. My insurance cost $15,000 last year. How much of that was ever actually used for medical costs for my group?
