mypatience1978ParticipantMy daughter is 11th on the wait list for K-Stem. I have never dealt with a waiting list for a school spot. Does my daughter even stand a chance to get into this school at this position? I would love to hear anyone’s experience in dealing with the wait list.

pattileaParticipantGood morning, Our friend was 11th on the wait list last year and made it in. Just remember people sign up for the school and then decide to go to their neighborhood school. Or families move like us. We are there now, but we will be moving before the next school year. Don’t fret!
PS the school ROCKS!

wsmama3ParticipantIt just totally depends – lots of movement happens (even into Sept!). I’ll keep my fingers crossed! STEM is great!

kayoParticipantWe are at Pathfinder which also typically has a very long waitlist for kindergarten. At our school, there is often a bit of waitlist movement in June and then again later in the summer as people move and/or change their minds OR the school opens/adds spots. There is always a chance so don’t give up hope. Waitlists stay open until the end of September every year. Also remember that the individual school has no control over enrollment anymore. The district enrollment services department is who makes the ultimate decision of whether to open things up. This makes it more stressful in my opinion because there is not a lot of information available. Anyway, good luck to you. Hope you get in!

mypatience1978ParticipantThanks for the kind responses! I really hope things work out for my daughter. She has had a horrible year at her current school. There is a total right now of 12 kids on the waiting list for 3rd grade at STEM.

fatkittyParticipantI think you can only be on one waitlist. Oops! Sorry, that meant to go to the other post about waitlists!

mehud7Participant12 is a lot of students on a waitlist at 3rd grade. The school would have to lose that many students in 2nd grade or add a class in order for more than a few to make it off of the waitlist. Good luck though!

fatkittyParticipantI would suggest looking at other schools you may like and seeing what their waitlists are at. Maybe jump waitlists??? You can just go down to John Stanford and talk to them about different waitlists.

MercyMoiParticipantIncidentally, here’s the link to the waitlist updates. Click on “WAITLIST NUMBERS BY SCHOOL” link for frequently updated lists.

BonnieParticipantHere is the link: https://tinyurl.com/nobuvg7 I was going to suggest switching to Arbor Heights (same building next year as Boren) and you can stay on the Boren waitlist. I see that AH has no waitlist for 3rd grade. We’ve been at AH for awhile and love it. Of course you wouldn’t get transportation to AH.

mypatience1978ParticipantThanks so much for all the info! How would I go about getting my daughter at Arbor Heights and will that take her off the waitlist for Stem? I do not want to mess anything up with her wait list spot. She is assigned to Highland Park if she doesn’t make it into Stem right now. I absolutely will not have her go to Highland Park next year so I do need to other options incase she doesn’t get into Stem. My son went to Arbor Heights and I was very happy with him there, although he was in Special Ed. Thanks again for the info and advice!

BonnieParticipantYou can go down to John Stanford Center. If you work you may need to take some time off. If there truly is no waitlist you can get in at AH but stay on the waitlist at STEM. If there happens to be a waitlist at AH then it wouldn’t work. I think it’s easiest to just go down there because otherwise you don’t know if your paperwork was received, etc. They do everything right in front of you.
btw-my son went to AH too and was in special ed too. He is at Denny now.

MercyMoiParticipantThanks, Bonnie! I was trigger happy on that Send Post. :)
The list seems to be updated a few times a week if not every day.
