Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Radio Play @ Kenyon Hall
Dec 7 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Twelfth Night Productions (TNP) Twelfth Night Production (TNP) is proud to present The Lux Radio Theater version of the classic 1947 film Miracle on 34th Street. TNP’s Holiday Radio plays have become an annual tradition for community members seeking to revel in holiday cheer with friends and family. Previous radio show productions have included It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol.

The radio play is based on the holiday movie favorite of the same name and will be presented as a live 1940’s radio broadcast. Miracle on 34th Street tells the timeless story of an old man who calls himself Kris Kringle and is hired as the Macy’s department store Santa. His claim to be the real Santa Claus becomes a court case and a young child’s belief could make all the difference. “Faith is believing when common sense tells you not to.”

Our cast of talented Radio players also includes our incredible Foley (sound effects) actors and the one-of-a-kind 1929 Wurlitzer Pipe Organ.

“If you close your eyes during this production you won’t miss a beat because all of the components – the sound effects, the organ, the commercials, and the Mistletones – work together successfully to recreate the live radio experience of the 1940’s and 50’s.”

This live radio show will be performed at historic Kenyon Hall, one of West Seattle’s favorite venues, December 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 7:30pm and December 8 and 15 at 3:00pm. Bring the family and make this a holiday tradition! Tickets are available online at Brown Paper Tickets, or at Kenyon Hall, 7904 35th Ave. SW, Seattle WA, starting an hour before the show on performance days. Prices are $20 for adults and $18 for students & seniors. http://www.twelfthnightproductions.org/

Early Christmas Eve service, to be filmed @ St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church
Dec 8 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Filming Christmas for the Whole Episcopal Church

When: December 8, 2019, 5:00 p.m.
Where: St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 3050 California Ave SW

Every year the Episcopal Church chooses one or two parishes from across the entire country to have their Christmas Eve service filmed for broadcast on their social media outlets. This year St. John’s was chosen, so a crew from New York is bringing all of their equipment to film this service. We will set up as for Christmas, because it is Christmas! We’ll have the tree, the poinsettias, the advent wreath, the candles, everything. It will be a full Christmas Eve service, but on December 8th. After it is filmed, it will be in the can until December 24th when it will be released for broadcast on all of the church’s social media channels including YouTube and Facebook and be available to view through December 23 2020.

This event is perfect for anyone who has other commitments on Christmas Eve, but who would like to experience a full Christmas Eve service. As an added bonus, you can watch it yourself any time after December 24! All are welcome!

Reception to follow, with cookies.

The 70-person choir, now in their 9th season, is led by artistic director Deeji Killian, a former Seattle Opera soloist with a theater and dance background. The Northwest Firelight Chorale, who perform all music memorized, are known for their innovative staging, choreography and expressive performances that provide an exhilarating experience for their audiences.

The choir has performed at the Northwest Folklife Festival, headlined twice at the Leavenworth Tree Lighting Ceremony, and opened for famed Irish tenor Emmet Cahill on his last two U.S. tours. The group also performs outreach concerts for each program at senior living facilities to bring music and healing to those who cannot easily attend its regular concerts.
The choir has embarked on three European Concert tours, most recently in the summer of 2018 when they enthralled audiences in France, Belgium and Ireland. In addition to fulfilling its mission to share soul-stirring music, the choir donated all proceeds from their performances to local charities within the regions they visited.

From West Seattle Runner (WSB sponsor):

Our annual Christmas Light Run. Sunday Dec 22nd at 6 pm.

You know the drill: light it up! Wear reflective, headlamps and festive garb! We will run a leisurely 2.5 to 3 mile route through the ‘hood spying the most spectacular of light displays. We are still hoping to have a caroler in the bunch so someone can lead us in jingles as we go. This is a leisurely paced run and we will go over the route before heading out so folks who want to walk are welcome to join as well!

Feel free to bring canned food donations for the West Seattle Food Bank. We will serve nog and sweets back at the shop for fellowship and fun post-run.

Tinkergarten Free Trial @ Lincoln Park
Jan 14 @ 10:00 am – 10:50 am

At Tinkergarten, families meet outdoors to connect and learn through play. In this free trial class, Tinkergarten Leader, Alison Arnote, will facilitate an expert-designed play scenario, allowing children of various ages and needs to explore, problem solve, communicate, collaborate, and create together. Parents and caregivers learn, too, as we share insight into your child’s development.

This trial class is:

  • Designed for children ages 18 months-8 years. Child/children are accompanied by an adult. Siblings of any other age are most welcome.
  • Limited to the first 15 families who register.

Kids may get a bit messy (Hurrah!), so please send them in clothing that can get dirty.

We start the class at the specified location but may end within a reasonable walk from that location.

This trial class is free.

The KonMari Method of Decluttering and Organizing your Home @ The Kenny
Jan 29 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Spring is right around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about spring cleaning. It’s also the perfect time to start tidying your house. Tidying first means you won’t get stuck cleaning things that do not spark joy. Tidying also means it will be easier to clean when your house is already in order. Find out how KonMari Tidying can be part of your spring-cleaning marathon.

This interactive workshop will provide you with  the tools and knowledge to successfully transform your home using the KonMari Method. The event includes an overview of the KonMari Method™ including a live demonstration of the KonMari folding technique and the distribution of take-home materials for reference that will prepare you to  get your home tidy now!

This method of tidying can change your life!

The Pacific Northwest’s first certified KonMari Tidying Consultant, Sue Bollinger, of Tidy Up With Sue, will share home organization tips that focus on what to keep (Does it “spark joy?”) rather than what to discard. Learn about the revolutionary Japanese decluttering method made popular by Marie Kondo’s bestsellers, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, Spark Joy, and the Netflix series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A period.  All are welcome!

Space is limited, so please RSVP today at (206) 937-2800.
