Homework Help volunteers will be at the High Point Library to assist students on a drop-in basis throughout the school year, with the exception of school holidays.

These super volunteers provide support and encouragement to students and are especially good at helping new English speakers.

Please note that, while Homework Help is available to students from kindergarten through 12th grade, volunteers are not responsible for children, who should not be left unsupervised.

Library events and programs are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required.

The Seattle Public Library, AARP, and the United Way of King County are working together to offer free tax help at 11 Library locations through mid-April. Trained volunteers will be available to answer questions and prepare personal tax returns.

This service is free and available to individuals by appointment at this location. The free service is not available for business tax returns.

Due to federal budget cuts the IRS is unable to provide the Library with certain tax forms and instruction booklets. Most IRS forms are available online at www.irs.gov. You may make black-and-white prints of the forms from Library computers for $.15 per page.

Drop-in tax help is offered on a first come, first served basis.

Required Documents
To receive tax help, bring the following documents:
• Photo identification (required)
• Social Security cards for everyone listed on the tax return
• Tax form SSA 1099 (Social Security benefits)
• Medicare card (if Social Security number is followed by an “A”)
• Official documents on Social Security Administration letterhead
• Last year’s tax return, if available
• All tax-related documents, such as W-2s and 1099s. Be prepared to provide information about health care coverage for each person on the return.

Note: Photocopies or computer print-outs of any these documents will not be accepted.

The Gatewood Elementary School PTA is hosting a spring outdoor work party and indoor painting party on Saturday, April 25th. Mark your calendar to help with a range of projects to spruce up our beautiful school. We’ll be weeding, planting, and spreading mulch outside. We’ll also do some indoor painting in the vestibule between the cafeteria and playground.

Pick up a mask and care kit. Help restock the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. One stop…a lot of good. Flu shots are provided by Walgreens and are free with many insurance plans (bring your card). Needed pantry items include non-perishable food (canned tuna/soup/chilis/stews, mac & cheese, pasta, peanut butter, pasta sauce), tp, hygiene items (soap, shampoo, conditioner) and household cleaning supplies (laundry and dish detergents, all-purpose spray cleaners, paper towels). The West Seattle High School Senior Class is extremely grateful to have received numerous offers from restaurants willing to host our fundraiser. We will be hosting a Dine Out day on Wednesday, October 21. Support your local restaurants and the Senior class by dining in or taking out at any of the following restaurants:

Traditional Bollywood dancing has been heavily influenced by Asian culture, Hindu art, music, and culture. Today Bollywood music and dancing is also influenced by other cultures and forms of dance including salsa and hip-hop. Join us for a fun class where we’ll dance to Bollywood hit songs from different eras and learn about the inspiration behind the songs.
