We need help from all of our parents and teachers to continue raising funds to support school initiatives. By becoming a member of PTA and attending meetings, parents can also stay informed of the events and decisions taking place at our school. We strongly encourage everyone to renew or start a new membership for only $15 per person.
To join, simply attend our next PTA meeting or register online (http://www.fpepta.org). This gives you a vote (voice) on how your fundraising dollars are spent towards our amazing programs: music & art, enhanced assemblies, the Backpack program, student wellness, parent education events, and much more.
General Membership Meetings for the 2018/19 school year will take place at the school cafeteria, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

We’d like to invite the West Seattle Community to our Nov. 13th, PTSA General Meeting for a presentation on the state requirement for 24 credits for graduation. Presentation by Heidi Bennett, Wa. State Region 6, Legislative Representative.
NEW 24 CREDIT GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS & DECIPHERING HIGH SCHOOL – A guide for middle and high school parents
With the change to WA State 24-credit graduation requirements approaching, I’ve developed a presentation geared toward middle and high school parents to explain:
v New WA State 24-credit graduation requirements
v State and Federal testing High School requirements
v Deciphering acronyms – PPR, HSBP, AP, IB, CHIS, CTE, STEM, etc. – do you know what these are?
v Why and how to earn post-secondary credit (college or work credentials) in high school
For Shoreline and Seattle, the 24-credit graduation requirement starts with the class of 2021 (rising 10th graders) and beyond, as both districts have a 2-year waiver. Neither district has finalized plans for offering more credits beyond their current 6-period day/24 credit earning opportunities! YIKES
Come and learn more about this new requirement

From the Fairmount Park Elementary PTA website:
Fairmount Park Elementary PTA General Membership Meetings
All are welcome to attend. Child-care services will likely be available for these meetings. Contact board@fpepta.org with questions.

WEST SEATTLE HIGH SCHOOL ALL-SCHOOL REUNION
First off – please note that we’re shaking things up a bit this year! With accessibility issues of many of our honored guests, and a very small cast of volunteers managing this event, we’ve opted for a MUCH simpler approach than in years past. Instead of breaking out into classrooms, we are designating tables for each range of years in or around the Commons, and for some in the Library. Think very large open house vibe. As laid out in the program map, tables will be organized chronologically by year range, so most of you will be next to the table of classes in the range above or behind you. No more climbing stairs, hunting for elusive rooms, traversing a daunting length of hallways, and dashing between classrooms to find and greet friends and family from other years.
We thank you in advance for supporting this change! As always, we welcome suggestions for improvement (highly recommended to be accompanied by offers for help ;) ), in our effort to maximize community and rapport while minimizing effort for planners and guests alike.
2019 Schedule of Events
4:00 – 5:30 pm View the Classic Cars showcased on SW Stevens outside the Historical entrance
4:00 – 4:30 pm Sign in, pick up programs, name tag and roam the halls
4:30 – 5:30 pm Individual Class Reunions in the Commons (or Library)
5:00 – 5:30 pm Hall of Fame Member’s video plays in the Theater
5:30 – 7:00 pm Presentations in the Theater: Scholarships Announcements, Recognition of the 50th Reunion of the Class of 1969, Hall of Fame Induction
And….
4:00 – 6:45 pm WSHS Baseball Team selling Mariners Tickets to benefit the WSHS Baseball
4:00 – 6:45 pm Refreshments available for purchase to benefit the Student Booster Club programs
Join the one and only Kate Watson, as she ties a handful of traditional summer steelhead flies. Kate is not only an incredible fly tier, but also one of the premier female spey casters in the world. As a full time guide, Hardy Ambassador, and influential leader in the industry, we are thrilled to have her expertise and enthusiasm here for our Fly Fest. On top of it all, Kate is one of the most approachable women in the industry, who loves to break down all facets of our sport to all who are interested.
Tickets are $10 and available here.

This year the auction is going to be at The Brockey Center at South Seattle College on June 1st, 2019 at 6p. Admission to the auction is $40 per person and we hope you consider joining us.
Sanislo Elementary School is building a network of dedicated individuals from throughout our community whose support and passion helps increase the chances of success for our children. Last year at Sanislo while we had a goal of raising just $20,000, we ended up exceeding this goal by 50%. We raised $30,000 thanks to all of your donations to Sanislo! The school used this money to support: mindfulness/social emotional learning, a learning garden, and scholarships for after school enrichment programs.
This year our need is even greater. I interviewed key stakeholders including the Principal in order to determine what aspect of the school was in greatest need of support. One of the largest challenges the school is facing is the increasing age of the books and other instruction materials. Our children are struggling to experience the joy of learning and self discovery partially because the average age of their books is more than 10 years old! Our library has become out of touch with reality and the children are not as motivated to participate in self guided learning as children at other schools. Help us bring the joy of learning to our children.
Our annual auction is coming up soon! We hope you can join us once again in supporting educational equity. Come enjoy an evening of fun with us: dinner, dancing, drinks, silent auction, and dancing
