Twelfth Night Productions’ ‘It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Show’ @ Kenyon Hall
Dec 8 @ 7:30 pm

Twelfth Night Productions (TNP) is excited to announce the return of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Show”, playing this December at Kenyon Hall. Based the classic 1946 Frank Capra film, playwright Joe Landry’s take on “It’s a Wonderful Life,” comes to life as a live 1940s radio broadcast as the ensemble of characters bring the town of Bedford Falls to the stage. You will feel the magic as we return to the fateful Christmas Eve when George Bailey contemplates ending his life before he realizes the difference he makes in the lives of others. “No man is a failure who has friends.”

“If you close your eyes during this production you won’t miss a beat because all of the components – the sound effects, the organ, the commercials, and the Mistletones – work together successfully to recreate the live radio experience of the 1940’s and 50’s.” Drama in the Hood.

This live radio show will be performed at historic Kenyon Hall, one of West Seattle’s favorite venues, December 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 7:30 pm,
and December 10 and 17 at 3 pm.
Bring the family and make this a holiday tradition! Tickets are available online at Brown PaperTickets, and at Kenyon Hall, 7904 35th Ave. SW, Seattle WA, an hour before the show on performance days. Prices are $20 for adults and $18 for students & seniors.

Seasonal Sounds on the Sound @ Harbor Park
Dec 9 @ 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

If you have ever wanted to watch and listen to the Argosy Christmas Ship Cruise in comfort and hang out with some super awesome people, please join with us for “Seasonal Sounds On The Sound” at Harbor Park Condominium complex, 1727 Harbor Avenue SW on Saturday December 9th, 2017!

This 21 and older event is from 3 pm – 6:30 pm and includes live holiday music on site, beverages and food, along with a FRONT ROW seat for the Argosy Christmas Ship stop along Harbor Avenue!

This hosted holiday fundraiser benefits the SW Seattle Historical Society.

Many of you may know about the Log House Museum on Alki Beach, but there are many other things that our local historical society does to promote the heritage and history of Seattle. (Most recently, think “We ❤ The Junction” campaign which successfully landmarked both the Campbell and Hamm buildings at the Alaska Junction, “Words, Writers & West Seattle” on the first Friday of each month at Barnes & Noble, ongoing school assembly programs, and more.)

A suggested donation of $50 per person is appreciated and will be a wonderful opportunity for you & a date to ring in the holiday spirit and still leave time to enjoy other holiday activities that day!

Remember… all proceeds benefit the SWSHS! Space is limited so RSVP by emailing director@loghousemuseum.info right away! Thank you for your support and we hope to see you there!

Twelfth Night Productions’ ‘It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Show’ @ Kenyon Hall
Dec 9 @ 7:30 pm

About The Whale Trail
The Whale Trail (www.thewhaletrail.org) is a series of sites around the region where the public may view orcas and other marine mammals from shore. Our mission is to inspire appreciation and stewardship of whales and our marine environment by establishing a network of viewing sites along the whales’ trails through the Salish Sea and the coastal waters of the Pacific Northwest.

Our goals are to increase awareness that our marine waters are home to orcas and other species; connect visitors to orcas, other marine wildlife and their habitat; inspire stewardship and build community; promote land-based whale watching. Our over-arching goal is to ensure the southern resident orcas do not go extinct.

The Whale Trail provides simple, powerful, and long-lasting reminders to visitors and residents alike that orcas and other whales live in our waters. Through our current sites and signs, including two on every Washington State ferry, we reach more than 22 million people each year. Our near-term goals are to add a site in every coastal county in Washington, and around Vancouver Island, throughout the orcas’ range. Together, we will turn the tide for the whales!

The Whale Trail is led by a core team of partners including NOAA Fisheries, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Seattle Aquarium, the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary, and the Whale Museum. Donna Sandstrom is the Founder and Executive Director. The Whale Trail is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, registered in Washington State.

Twelfth Night Productions’ ‘It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Show’ @ Kenyon Hall
Dec 15 @ 7:30 pm

“Alizah’s pieces speak to so many of our customers,” said CAPERS owner Lisa Myers. “In fact, one of our clients snapped a photo of a beautiful silver necklace she wanted and sent her husband back to buy it for Christmas!”

A West Seattleite born and reared in White Center, Olivas began creating jewelry about 10 years ago. With support from her husband, family and friends, she has been learning and crafting jewelry ever since, attracting many collectors in the area.

“Whether it's a new gemstone I’ve found, a new shape I want to create, or a combination of the two, making each new piece is simply fun. If I’m smiling when I’m done with a piece, I’m hoping you’ll be smiling while wearing it,” said the proud lab owner of George and Gracie, who keep her company while she works.

Silver has always been Olivas’ favorite metal to wear and work with.

“The bright reflectiveness makes me happy and adding semi-precious stones only makes it better. Hopefully, my jewelry brings a brightness to your day,” shared Olivas.

For more, stop by CAPERS in-store at 4525 California Avenue Southwest in West Seattle, see our December calendar of events or visit www.alizahsjewelry.com.

Twelfth Night Productions’ ‘It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Show’ @ Kenyon Hall
Dec 16 @ 7:30 pm

New Year’s Eve 2017 walks with Emerald City Wanderers @ Starting at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church
Dec 31 @ 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

From Emerald City Wanderers:

Walking is a great way to enjoy New Year’s Eve and Day with family, friends and other kindred spirits. We’ll have 5 and 10 kilometer walks on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, different routes each day. And there’ll be hot soup and snacks to chase away the chills. Walks start on New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31, anytime between 4 and 7 PM, and on New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1, between 9 AM and 12 noon, at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in West Seattle. No fee for the walks, which are noncompetitive.

The New Year’s Eve 5 kilometer route winds through the holiday lights in the Admiral neighborhood and Junction. The 10 kilometer route also enjoys neighborhood holiday lights, heads down to Alki and features the lights on and around Puget Sound, Elliott Bay and downtown Seattle. Flashlights will be helpful.

On New Year’s Day, the 5 and 10 kilometer routes take walkers through North Admiral, enjoying a number of viewpoints looking over Elliott Bay. 10K walkers also walk along the Puget Sound shoreline, through a number of parks and shoreline features.

From I-5, take exit 163 (northbound) or 163A (southbound), and cross West Seattle bridge. Exit at Admiral Way. Go up Admiral Way a little over a mile to California Ave SW, a major intersection. Turn left and go .3 mile to West Seattle High School parking lot, adjacent to St. John’s Church and the start/finish.

This event is hosted by the Emerald City Wanderers and St John the Baptist Episcopal Church, and is sanctioned by the American Volkssport Association. Information about volkssports will be available.
